an outgoing tide. should be fun make a decent trip,,,,,,what say ye?

Check out who owns the land etc. before you do so, as I have a feeling you aren't allowed on a stretch of that water for some reason...
I've paddled up from Borth to Derwenlas and back which is where the tidal influence ends. As far as I know you are allowed on tidal
waters, athough I know of people who have been shouted at as they passed under the railway bridge by Dovey Junction for some reason...
You could of course all go in camo gear at night just to add to the excitement!

Canoeing in the river Dyfi, (from Mach), is illegal. Due to the fisheries commision. Sorry to put a damper on the plan. There can also
be some really nasty bits of water at stages, that youd have to be really carefull passing. Id say its a nono though.

Better to simply paddle up the estuary as far as you can get, with a stop in Aberdovey for a pint or two on the way back... I can get
from the Golf Course Car Park in Borth to the pub in Aberdovey in around 10 minutes on my surf ski on a calm day!!

is that unusual that they can restrict your access to the river, i would have thought you could go anywhere you like?
How would you be supposed to find this out, is it signed along the river?

Derwenlas is the furthest up you are allowed to go as far as I know.... Maybe the best place to get in would be Glandyfi though.
Although you then have to get back, better to get in at Ynyslas paddle up with the tide and then have a picnic at Glandyfi while the
tide turns and paddle back down on the outgoing tide... It is a nice little trip.

Even from Derwenlas it's over 8 miles to Ynyslas, thats a good 1/2 day's messing about, definitely a worthwhile adventure on a windless
day.
Tho I'm all for the camouflage and moonlite manouvers

This topic has been in the news a lt recently. Basically the canoests are saying that they should have the rights to use the river as
much as the fishermen have. Fair enough Id say, I dont know where the matter stands legaly, but we should deffo do it this summer. I
have a mate with a canoe I can borrow.
