Plane Crash

You may have read elsewhere in the froums that there was some excitement here in Ynyslas at the weekend, which turned out to be a plane crash...

Well, Some of the details are that it was a privately owned Hawker Hunter jet that went out of control over the estuary. The pilot ejected and landed in the estuary still strapped to his ejector seat and the plane embedded itself into land not far from the railway line. Some people on the beach paddled out to help the pilot and the rescue services, hearing that there had been a plane crash, but without any other details went into overdrive; Borth and Aberdyfi Coastguard rescue teams were soon on the scene as was the Cambrian Coastguard sector manager, two RAF Sea King helicopters were scambled and soon helping out along with the Borth and Aberdfyi inshore lifeboat teams. Representatives from Machylleth, Aberystwyth and Aberaeron fire stations were called to the scene along with the Aberdyfi and Aberystwyth ambulances, Dyfed Powys and North Wales police were in attendance too and two police helicopters!!!

Apparently it was the second time the pilot has ejected from a plane, and as the Cambrian News points out, it was alos the second time he had survived!!!... Surely if this is the second time he's survived, it was fairly obvious that he survived the first time as well!!!

Anyway... The plane certainly did a good job of embedding itself into the ground, check this photo out.

How is that for some excitement in rural live? I am very astonished about the plane burying itself the way it is seenin the picture! Where did the wings go Al? Why did it not blow up? Al, do you have any more details?

Its all there in one place. Apparently it buried itself 15 foot into the ground. It went straight up when the pilot lost control, and then came straight down, like a dart.

It landed on Borth Bog, so it's fairly soft land.
