What lights to get

Gonna splash out and get some better lights for mountain biking this winter, any sugestions?? I only need 2-3 hours battry life, so no need to spend out onn a 7 hour one, and ideal want to spend around no more than a couple of hundred. Any suggestions?? Theres just so many to choose from!

i bought a 20 watt lamp and lead from lumicycle and use the batteries from my battery drill held in a small under seat bag depending on the amp hour of the battery you can get up to i hour per battery for a little bit more weight to carry around
total cost 38 quid
they work real good too!

This is what I ended up with. I have done the Climachs with this and didn't have a problem.

But if you are doing mainly off road you may consider these.

Got some stuff on with family and friend so won't be up till 16th-17th, dependent on whether I nick off to France for a few weeks...still undecided but may head down to the alps for a spot of MTBing or pos to the west coast if Niel brings the wind in..catch up soon geez...till then

Look good Shem... Its a nightmare deciding which ones to get and they change so quickly that all the research I did last year is now out of date (as are the lights I went for)... Whatever you do, just get some before it starts getting dark otherwise you'll miss half the winter decided which lights to get.

I'm still happy with the ones I got in the end and anything will be better than what you have at the moment. Its no good just comparing wattage either, and all compaines seem to specify the brightness of their lights using different units, but the most consistent thing to compare them is lumens. In then end I went for a dual amp lumicycle halogen unit with a 12 watt spot light at 370 lumens and a 20 flood light at 650 lumens which is more than enough for me, although it sounds pretty useless up to some of the more recent models and the light is a little yellower than the HIDs. Could have done with them on the final descent of the Climachx last night!

The Hope one looks good... I'd recommend getting a helmet mount for it as well though as it is much better having the light on your head pointing where you are looking rather than on the bars.

Al.
