Hola from Shewsbury via Tarifa
Hello there..i´m in Tarifa loving a baptism of fire in to a love of kiting. Borth´s gonna be my local spot when i get back..and
now i´m up on the board (just!) fighting the waves i´m wondering what size kite would suit good ol´Cafe del Borth. I can only
afford one at the mo and am looking at an Ozone Instinct Sport..stable for my bruised body & easy to relaunch..all helps the
learning curve & should see me thru a few years. I´m about 8ish stone. An ABoard ´Flip´is probably calling me..seems
good to break my kiting feet in on. Any welcomes and advice gratefully received. Cheers

Hola y bienvenidos de cafe del Borth...
You may find it a tad colder in sunny wales than in tarifa at the moment, but you'll always be received with a warm welcome.
I recon a 9m would just about cover the majority of conditions to your weight ratio that we get in Borth. Ive seen a few Instinct
sports on ebey lately that have gone for a good price. Maybe better off buying second hand first time round and upgrading once youv'e
hammered it and improved your sailing to a point whereby you aint gona trash your gear.
Be good to see you at the beach sometime soon.

I agree with Shem, Jon and Dan except I have a 2006 Ocean Rodeo One 9m complete with bar and lines in very good condition for sale
pretty cheap too. It's a 100% depowerable bow and easy to relaunch. Could be well worth a look and an ideal first kite that you will
get alot of use out of and can trash (as Jon has put it) before paying out for a new kite. You would be most welcome to try it out on
the beach at Borth just drop me a U2U if interested.

consider also the 7m instinct with an upgrade to an 11m later...7m and 11m combo would be best choice at that weight..if you're sure
it's only going to be 1 kite, then maybe a 9m....but 1 kite is never enough.as anyone on here will tell you....

Spooks man, don't use that as an excuse...your sooo transparent....you'll do anything to justify upgrading to the Edge 2
Kitty, get yourself a go on Kitefish's Ocean Rodeo, they are well tough, full depower unlike the instincts and he lives in Shrewsbury
so is right on your doorstep. I have a 9m OR and love it...it's a gust muncher, goes big and is great for waveriding...well worth
thinking about if it's the right price.
Valied point nick...you tryin to sell your gear also

Depends on condition but that sounds well expensive to me. the ones I saw went on fleabay for 300 and 400 quid respectively.
I would expect to get a new 2007 model for that price in the UK.
Kitefish is only lookin for a couple of hundred for his nine.
my own personal opinion...don't touch it wid a barge pole....good luck

deffinately not getting rid of my instincts....she's on;ly 8 stone.....thats why the 7m would be the best size.and 700 quid sounds way
too expensive for anything with a puncture, especially a slow puncture because it will probably be even harder to find and fix!.

700 quid would get you a new 9meter, so you did well to stay away. remember that second hand bows may have had a load of abuse, so be
carefull buying off ebay. Having said that there are plenty of bargains. Its often better and safer to get the biger of your 2 kites
first if your gonna get 2. That way you can get out and learn in lighter more predictable winds, rarther than stronger stuff. What size
kites did you fly in Tariffa and in what wind strength, Ive taught a couple of light peps, (male and female that have gone on to use 11
meter kites most of the time). Its a case of knowing when to go and when not to.

Hmm..good idea getting an 11m (& then 7m when my piggy bank is fit to roast). Winds switched between Poniente & Levante giving
tantalisingly different conditions..12-23 knots, gusting up to the pinks (approx 30) mixed with pockets of no wind just to keep us on
our toes. Flew 7, 9 & 11m depending on conditions (trashed the 7m with a puncture or 2..got a corner of Las Dunas spring-tide
lagoon named in my honour on 2nd day..oops). Still a newbie newbie in waves (lagoon easier, no surprise). Roll on that learning
curve..
