Where in the south should I go?

Having recently moved to Devon, I live somewhere near Lyme Regis. I am planning on going surfing next week since I am near enough to some good spots. Where would be recommend for next week? Teignmouth is close and I hear thats ok for surfing in terms of South Devon. I know north devon is best for surf but where might I catch some decent(ish) waves in the south? Anyone know?

Well I have decided to go to Bantham in the south. Ive read that it is ok for surfing at this time of year. Does anyone have any advice as Ive never been here for surfing.
