Who's coming to Borth this weekend?
Its early days yet, but there could be some winds this weekend.. At the mo windguru is forecasting 20-25 knots for Saturday SSE.
If the forecast stays SE, I might take a trip up to Tywyn which is pretty good in SE's... Anyone else up for it? Temps should be up as
well at about 9 degrees C rather than the zero degrees that it is during the day at the mo.
BTW its pretty windy here now, so I might manage to get out for a sail tomorrow... Brrrr!!!

I am going to sail this week without fail. It looks like a big sail and big board for this wednesday afternoon at home but hope to
come over to Borth this weekend.
I doubt if it will be saturday as i have to work, whats the weather looking like for sunday and where would be the best to sail?

Olly... We'll wait and see what the forecast says closer to the time as its already only saying 18 knots for saturday now, when it was
saying 20-25 last night!!
Basically, Borth is usually prety crap in a SE and not great in a Southerly, but Tywyn IS good in a SE.
However, Borth is good in all other directions. High tide is a round midday, so if its NE then the estuary will be good.
Lets see what the forecast says and who else will be around and then if it looks good we'll decide where to meet.

Its still looking OK... 16-20 knots SE on Saturday, 23 knots SE easing 18 knots Southerly on Sunday.
If it stays like that the a trip to Tywyn may well be the order of the day(s)
Mind you, with the cold temps we've been having lately, although the forecasts have been Force 4ish SE, the cold mountain air has been
sucked down the Dovey Valley producing Force 6-7 ENE winds in the estuary. The weather is supposed to warm up a little by the weekend
though and the cloud increase so that won't be happening by then.
Still, it always amazes me this time of year just how much of a difference this 'Katabatic' wind can have... The winds at the estuary
can easily be 3-4 forces stronger than elsewhere....

Well, Saturday morning is here and its dawned bright, sunny (well, the suns not up yet, but there aren't any clouds so I guess when it
rises it'll be sunny!) and WINDY.
SE's at about 18 knots at the moment. I'm off to Borth now to check the conditions on the ground, then might drive around to
Tywyn..Maybe even see if I can find a suitable access and parking point for Graveyards.

We got more than a bit of wind.... At one point I was about to change down to a 3.4m sail as i was completely and utterly overpowered
on my 4.5m
Tomorrows forecast is looking a bit better than it was this morning as well...S-SW 16 knots until midday now. You never know, I might
get out tomorrow as well then.

Looks as though we got the best of the wind yesterday... Reports from elsewhere seem to suggest that most people were out with 5.5-6m
sails and 100 litre boards in SE winds, whilst we were all on 4.5-5m sails and wave boards in ENE winds... And when I was first out, a
3.4m sail would have been plenty.
The winds at Ynyslas on cold winter days never fails to amaze me... Glad a few other people finally got to see the phenomenon for
themselves.
