Ban at potential new world class venue at Atcham
Afraid to say I am responsible for a ban at an incredible new venue at Atcham near Shrewsbury on Farmer Giles' field.
Said field was covered in about a foot of water and had a reasonable wind blowing over it and not too many trees so I thought it only
polite to kitesurf on it - farmer Giles thought otherwise and threw me off, stating (honestly) that watersports weren't allowed on his
field!
Excellent stuff!

Yes Atcham could be very much a top venue, with Andy I tried to kite on sunday upstream of Atcham Bridge. It looked the dogs, thats
once you get through a large gap of trees, then there was about twenty acres of water to play in. But it all nearly went badly wrong.
Put up the 13m which appeared fairly powered, but the wind was very fickle. Just as Iwas about to get on the board the kite dropped,
powered up then flew a around about 270 degrees then powered up, luckily Andy had hold of my harness otherwhise I would have lofted
towards the fence, then the road and a 7 foot wall not to mention the trees. I bricked it got the kite down and abandoned that idea.
Inland wind is so dangerous, its amazing the effect of structures like bridges or trees can have in what seems to be a safe clear
space. I think I was lucky and have Andy to thank for holding on. Think I will stick to what I know and trust at the coast. Picture of my failed attempt to launch with kite buddy holding on.

I can't see wht people would have a problem on their flooded field. Christ, it's not is if there using it. How much help do the farmers
get off us (the british taxpayer).

I've windsurfed just at the same spot above the bridge, in the past, but kitesurfing wise it looked too dodgy, which is why I opted for
the field.
Where did you go Andy?
I did think the farmer was a bit miserable and did think about saying that I wasn't trespassing on his land cause I was actually on the
water, but it wasn't that good so didn't seem much point.
He wasn't very happy when I asked to move when he stood in front of the kite as it nearly fell out the sky when the wind dropped, until
I pointed out that the lines might strangle him, moved pretty sharp then!
And yes wind was super dodgy wind gauge was showing 8knts - 28knts, thank god for bows!
Can't beat a little adventure!

I have pretty much stopped all inland flying now because the wind can be so poor. Even in a buggy or landboarding are can't be
bothered.
My home is now on the water anyway!

Quality post bucskie. Maybe you should fit a plough attachment to the back of your board next time your in a flooded farmers field

hi tim, its scary stuff this inland kiteing!!!!.
I went on a mates flooded field. He owns a farm in baschurch (Eyton) next to fenemere, about 4 acres. you just have to aviod the
fences and trees.
it was gusty when i went and i was greatfull for kitefishes help, so i was returning the favour on sunday. if you are going to kite
inland a kite buddy is a must as far as iam concerned.
bloody exciting though!!!
i wonder if kitefishes wetsuit is clean yet
