aberarth?
Justal etc
Any of you tried to windsurf the break at Aberarth? starting to hear a few things about this wave and we (lewis mainly) reckons it
could be a class windsurf break, and worth a trip up from Tenby. I tried to check it out this week on a trip to Aberaeron but it
didnt reveal much...

Ive surfed it heaps, and its very fickle. It needs a really huge swell. For example if trap is double over head, it'll be head high but
cleaner.
Theres a few waves there as well. A "A" frame in the centre, a short sucky right on the aber side, then along the aberaeron side a
long left called pixy point, which is even more fickle than the two other waves.
However, catch them on the right day and theyre epic.
Good luck!!

I've surfed it a bit too, and really like the right when its working, but can't imagine it being that great for windsurfing.... In
order to get any decent wind on it you would need wind from the W through to the North, in which case the waves will be crap... Of
course if its blowing a hoolie from the E or SE it could be good, but the same could be said for anywhere along the coast then,
although it will still be gusty and it would need a big swell.

Hmmmm.... Llanrhystud would be the obvious choice but as with most places along this coast, in order to get good quality waves you need
a decent groundswell and either light winds or winds from the S through E (depending on exactly where you are)... As these winds are
coming off the land they tend to be gusty and therefore not ideal conditions for windsurfing... Unless it is blowing an absolute hoolie
in which case you'll get some epic conditions.
Borth is of course the next choice place, and the Easterlies here are stronger than elsewhere so you can get decent cross-off
wave-sailing conditions from time to time. There are plnenty of places between Newgale and here, but none of them are particularly
consistent from either a wave or wind perspective.
Best thing is to simply drive along the coast road checking out the places as you go.

I know Chris, but someone got funny about the fact that it had been mentioned a few times here and asked me to filter it out.... Silly
really as it only makes people all the more determined to find out where it is and surf it... And as you say it isn't exactly a secret
spot!
