yep you sure is correct Chris ; the hotter the air the less dense the wind the bigger the kite size. the opposite is true for colder weather. when paragliding in the winter i could fly in far less wind.
in central africa notably harari large aircraft are limited as to when they can take off during the hot days!

After sailing at big bay in cape town for dec/jan, I realised that another BIG contributing factor is the salt content of the water..on the west coast the water is so salty that your bouyancy is much higher than that of say West Wales! It has taken me a while to figure this out but after a conversion with some of the local boys in Cape Town, Ruben Lenten and Aaron Hadlow, yeah the water density does make a difference!!!

i noticed the same leo when i used to teach on that puddle in worcs got to the sea and couldn't work out what the problem was...
