Webcam Desktop Widget, your thoughts?

Hey all, first post! I'm from North Devon and living in Bristol at the moment.

I got bored of checking A1 or whatever to find out whether I should bomb down the M5 so I made this:

www.uksurfspots.co.uk

Wondering what you think, should I take it further etc. Leave some comments on the site if you want to encourage me to spend less time doing work and more time doing this

Cheers all

P.S Incase you are wondering what the hell it is here's a screenshot:

It sits quietly on your desktop and refreshes the latest webcam feed from your favourite beach. It can also rotate through all the cameras. Great for me being stuck in my office, very depressing! Think it would be useful or is it a waste of time? I use it all the time but maybe I'm just too geeky for my own good. Happy new year all!

hi adam,

the idea itself seems quite good, but i don't like the idea of installing the yahoo software to run it. (they often make their own little changes to internet explorer and stuff, which i don't appreciate!)

how about a website with pictures from all of your feeds that we could just refresh as and when required?

just a thought! and it's only my opinion!

keep up the good work!

Hey Rob thanks for your comment. I totally understand what you say about installing Yahoo software and yeh, they do try and change your homepage etc, so it's just a case of unchecking some checkboxes on the install but I know what you mean, total pain in the arse!!

I could use a website, but then I'd just be doing what A1Surf do so well already! Personally I think the widget is more elegant, sitting there automatically getting the latest feed, install and leave it alone, but then I use other widgets already for other things so it's not such a leap of faith. Anyway, I'll see how it goes! Cheers, Adam

P.S. - How is Aberystwyth? I finished 4 years at uni there not so long ago, how is the old place?! My petition to relocate Rummers to Bristol didn't go down well with the landlord...

Maybe that's why I relocated myself from Bristol to Aberystwyth!!
