Lost Board

Help if you can guys!

A recent student of mine lost his board last Sunday (12 June) from Aberdovey side. I beleive he got caught in the channel in a lull two hours before low tide.

I think it was a 147 lightwave, '05 model. All authorities were informed (he was well trained!!).

Any info gratefully received. Cheers guys.

Nasty!!

For any body else learning over this side. Be carefull when using the lagoon area, that you stay within the lagoon, as soon as you leave its boundaries, you go from 1-2 foot of still flat water, into potentially 10 meters of tidal estuary with up to a 8 knot tidal flow. If the tide is ebing this pretty much guarantes a lost board if you let go of it!! Also on small tides, ( like last weekend), the tide doesn't go low enough, to expose the lagoons sand banks, so on days like this the lagoon isnt a safe place to learn, ( because there is no lagoon).

Check out your tides, and if your learning stay well away from the estuary, and only use the lagoon at the correct times.

Top tip Shem.

Remember guys, local knowledge is key. Speak to the local guys at any spot before you go. Know the hazards....
