Board repairs

I need my fin-box repaired (I hit a rock whilst going very fast; sorry that should read 'stopping very fast')

Anyway - I can't fix it with a simple 'slap on some ding stuff' - so can anyone recommend where I can get a professional repair job?

If you want to post your board you can't go wrong with K-Bay, they'll do an extremely professional job.

Closer to you in Mid Wales would be Mike Webb on Anglesey. He used to make O'Shea boards for Farrell, and Webb Custom prior to that, but tends to concentrate on canoes nowadays (more profit), but still repairs windsurfers. Not sure of his address but I'm sure you could find him on Directory Enquiries or you could be cheeky and ask Funsport in Rhosneigr for his phone number.

Blue chip did a crackin job on my (brand new, unused)board after I had an incident with it involving a large ceiling fan in a hotel room.......? The repair was invisible.

Now - can anyone recommend a good cheap fast sail repairer - or indeed have any comment as to whether a tear in the luff tube of my tushy rock is worth repairing at all - I've got a match box size flap in it now (as a result of loosing a wrestling match with it on the beach last week) & it's a brand new sail - will the tear get any worse or are luff tubes sufficiently tuff?

aaargh - why is all this showing as a link - sorry, can't figure it out.

I have a tear in my luff tube where my broken mast escaped. I'd be interested in any comments too...

Shawn, Cygnus Sails in Kettering are very good at sail repairs, they have all the right materials and machines etc for any sail repairs and they are recommended by many insurers. Very reasonable too, its just the postage costs that are the problem.

I guess its just a case of sewing on a patch, is that right? I'm wondering whether a DIY repair is worth while.

I have used grogz a few times for sail repairs always a good job and honest advice. If it's not worth repairing Greg will tell you so.

Back to my days at Rhosneigr again. For sail repairs try Mouse Loft on Anglesey, much cheaper than Cygnus. Though you might find it cheaper still to live with a tear in the luff tube as long as you're careful sleeving the mast. It's quite an expensive job that involves removing the luff tube to patch it.

Shawn, There is a place in Poole that also repairs, its above H2O Watersports. The guy there has done a couple of mine, and does a very good job. Quite a way for you to go mind!

As for whether to repair, YES! you'll stick your mast through it rigging, and you'll regret not spending the £30 on it....

Dave,

Al at Boardwise does all our customer's board repairs and I have to say he does make a excellent job - ( this is not a biased opinion, honest). Some of the nose jobs he has repaired are unbeliveable! Mind you he should be good it's what he does Mon - Fri 9 - 6!!!

Where are you based?

When do you need it doing?

Hans.

I'm in Ynslas

I'll figure out what I need next weekend, hopefully after speaking to Shem.

My original plan had been to drop it in at BW.

I'm working away at the momen t, but that should stop in June.
