Arrived at Esso beach with the wind really blowing but no water in the lagoon and the car park empty. By the time the water had come in the wind was still pretty strong. Went for the 5.5 but was wondering if I was going to be overpowered.

Went out and found the 5.5 to be fine but over downhauled so came in to the beach and took a bit off. From then on it was easy mellow sailing with increasing lulls thoughout the afternoon.

Later on there were considerable periods off the plane but then a gust would come through. I was able to do some really long runs up to the north end of the harbour. Eventually the lulls were so prolonged that it ceased to be worth the candle but by then I'd had over four hours so no real gripes.

Had the wind held up a bit more it would have been a definite four stars but with so many big holes I can really only give it 3.
