Boards forum and w/e weather

Boards forum is playing up a bit - one msg from Al dated January 2002!!!!

Well - whats happening with the weather this w/e? - looks promising. Im always interested in where people are heading.

Im sticking to the south coast - boring I know but close. Not sure where but depends on the days forecast (fingers crossed)

What Al doesn't realise is that I also have a plan! A Shopping plan! It's not often I get to do proper shopping with real shops! Aberystwyth doesn't really count.

Hahaha!
Sorry Al but I have to laugh at your w/e chrimbo shopping trip - I just hate and love reading your diary entries when im stuck in the offcie and cant get out until the w/e (when all of a sudden the wind drops). A bt of role reversal.

good tide link below and good luck with "the plan" - I hope it better than "the other plan"

Looking at the tides could you sail in the morning?

Saturday
WSM
High 0839
Low 1451

BXFS - I will also prob end up in poole if gustign 40mph - I need a 4m sail and unfornatley dont have the moeny at the moment. BBC SW20-30mph. Metoffice about the same but W. Smallest sail is an old ART 4.2 and a really old 3.7 (Gaastra wavefoil pro).

Planning on a big day at Bigbury on Saturday morning, provided my exhaust gets sorted. It's been so long since I've been out in decent waves that I'll probably be wiped out on the first run out.

Mark, see you've escaped from sunny Scotland back to the more reliable (and slightly warmer) conditions of the Bristol Channel.

Well.... The plan sort of worked... I went to Minehead first on Saturday, but ended up sailing at Saunton... Nothing too exciting, but at least I got out on the water... What happened to the Force 6-8's that were forecast!

Definitely gusting F6 at Bigbury on Saturday though I spent most of the session swimming after trashing my rig in some unforgiving conditions (as explained in my diary entry).

Was fairly breezy on Sunday when I went to Bantham at low tide to see if my brand new boom and reasonably new mast had been washed up (no luck). Plenty of surfers and kite surfers out enjoying the sunny (but cool) conditions though.

I ended up in Worthing - quite a nice session - 4.5m weather all morning. Some guys were out on bigger sails around 5m. I was on the water for about 9am with the tide rising. Some nice ramps for jumping and on the outside the swell was of a decent size and gybing on them is always good fun. Came in about 1130 when the tide was getting up to the groynes and I was getting tired (lightweight). Now sailed Worthing a couple of times and enjoy the friendly sailors you meet. Never made it out Sunday asI had a works chrimbo do on sat evening which was quite big.

No breakages but forgot to fully screw the vent valve in. I think some water would have found its way in. The board is now in the bedroom with the heating on, upside down and vent open(girlfriend isn't to happy).

Any suggestions greatly received - I read an old thread on this forum about Al's Cross but not sure what I should do apart from pray

I think im going to last until mid-week on the buzz I got from sat's sail - hopefully we get soem more wind at teh w/e - please, please.

Sounds like Worthing was the place to be then... Although, looking through the diaires it looks as though West Kirby had some mad winds on Sunday.

Heres a photo from Saunton on saturday that Martin has just sent me. It was taken from the car park with the tide out, so its on maximum zoom, but still looks OK.... I want a digital camera!!!!!

Shaka... My delaminated Cross wasn't due to water ingress through the vent, I've never unscrewed the vent plug which was what (I think) caused the problem. It sounds as though leaving it somewhere warm and dry with the screw out will be your best plan, and then just keep an eye on it for signs of delamination.

My Cross is pretty much ready for the bin now.

Al.
