New member from the sunny Solent
I did not realise that this is mainly a site for people around the Wales area. Nevermind, I am not from the Southcoast either as I am
from north Germany and just happen to live in the New Forest in Hampshire.
I am not particular good at it but I do love blasting around on my (very) old SCREAMER and my tatty second hand sails.
My van however is in a better state and I would love to travel a bit around Devon and Wales to find that sandy beach for the Missus and
a nice piece of water for the old windsurf action.
The more remote the place the better...
Any suggestions?
Phil

Don't worry about the Welsh Boyo's...there are a few of us Southerners here as well.
I am based just outside Fordingbridge on the edge of the new forest, what part of the forest are you from and where do you sail?

Is there wind on the way??

Hi Phil.
It doesn't matter where you are from or where you are now, this site isn't intended to be mainly for people in or around Wales, its
just that I live in Wales, so much of the content seems to be Wales biased.
As you can see there are plenty of people from your neck of the woods, and theres even some other German members as well.
If you are looking for a (in your words): 'sandy beach for the Missus and a nice piece of water for the old windsurf action.
The more remote the place the better...'
The you can't go far wrong with the Outer Hebrides. The beaches are the best you'll find in the UK, the windsurfing is as good as it
gets, and if you want remote.... you got it!! You'll be unlikely to see another person on the beach all day long.
Select this link for some Info on the Outer Hebrides and these for some
photos from the various islands:
Barra
South uist
North Uist
Harris
Lewis
I know I always go on about the Islands, but they are cool!!

Hi Phil,
I don't know for how long you have lived in the UK but for most people from Germany (as me) Borth is firstly quite remote and peacefull
as well. I love this part of the coast as on wind surf days i.e. not in the summer "heat" you will only find few people on the long and
broad beach.
Bye
Joe

thanx for your replies
Thanks for the travel tips!
I fancy the sound of the Hebrides but will have to collect a few more holiday days for that one...
Borth looks good though for a visit in a 1 week roundtrip along the Welsh coast in April.
To Sean Bo: I am living in Hythe (between Southampton and Lymington). My homewaters are Solent and Southampton Waters and I usually
launch from Calshot, Lepe or Lymington - most days it is extremely choppy here and slag water is very short - makes special sailing
though...
Thanx again for the warm welcome...
Phil

Let us know when you'll be in Borth... I'm sure I'll be able to find the time to join you for a sail.
Are you sure you can't make it for the Borth BST Beach Bash

Across the Estuary from Borth is Aberdyfi, theres a 4 mile stretch of virtually unused beach there, which is ideal for free camping,
about a 5-10 minuite walk from the car park. Although Ynys las/borth does have the advantage when the winds from the east.
Have fun.
