Masts
Sorry - dull topic!
I want to remove the bungs in my set of masts to allow me to store the top half inside the bottom but I am worried that it is going to
fill up with water without the lower stopper and make water-starting a right pain. Anyone have any opinions on this?

PS, looking good for Friday, I am aiming for Portland Harbour, possibly with a go at Sandbanks as well if the tides are right. Anyone
else planning anything?

I have a 490 mast without a bung. If the mast goes in the water for any period of time more than about 15 seconds it is a deadweight to
get back out! If you take your bungs out can I have them ;-)
Is there wind on the way??

I haven't got any bungs in my masts (they don't come with any) and I never have any problems with water getting into them. And as you
say, it certainly makes for easier storage.

If they are that easy to get in and out, why not take them out for easy storage, but put them back in (assuming you don't lose them) as
you rig up??

Sadly its because I am a useless twonk who loses / forgets almost everything. I just had this nasty feeling that I would launch into
some waves, fall off (always!), and not be able to fly the rig again. leaving me almost as stranded as when the cap on the new 6.5m
sail broke last weekend leaving me with a flappy sail, wobbly mast and no idea how to get the bugger flying again in the middle of
Poole harbour - and I could bear that low rumble sound of huge marine engines form the ferry as i floundered in the shipping
channel............
