Mourn the "passing" of J....
Just heard that my good mate and sometimes sailing partner J... has sold up his windsurfing kit and 'moved' to golf.
Seem the pressures of a young family and an unreliable hobby were just too much to cope with. After only three sessions this year he
decided enough was enough and he looked for a more reliable hobby.
I guess he will find out that golf is every bit as frustrating as windsurfing, but you cannot blame a poor day of golf on nature
Doubly sad/worrying for me as my firstborn is less than a month away. Will I be posting a similar message about me in the very near
future
Please take a minutes silence to contemplate one who has left the brotherhood
..............
Is there wind on the way??

I am really sorry to hear the news about J.....
There but for the grace of God ......
I play a bit, but I can't be bothered to actually count shots. (or the number of balls I lose).
A mate of mine recently bought a golf buggy; he claims it is so that he retains his energy for hitting the poor innocent ball.
I really can't see any point to golf if you don't even walk.

Oh dear, that REALLY is bad news.
Only three session this year.... How many times had he tried to get out when there wasn't enough wind?
It can be pretty frustrating sitting on the beach waiting for wind. I know its OK for me, but if I was travelling to the beach to
windsurf, then I'd definitely have to take kites etc with me as well so that I could at least play with something once I got there
whatever the weather threw at me.
Lets just hope that he either has more luck with the golf, or that he finds it just as frustrating, regains his sense and comes back to
windsurfing.

Sad but true
Cheers guys, it will not be forever and the golf thing is a bit of a wind up as I think my slice would be to dangerous to perform in
public.
Tried to many times this year AL and with a partner who works two weekends out of four and a toddler it has just got to much of a pain
over the last few months. It has become to much of a soul destroyer relying on one or two dates a month.
Cant see the point of letting good moneys worth of equipment rot away and become valueless .
Also having seen some of the "Reborn"windsurfers sailing 15 year old mainly pink and luminous green kit I would need to restart up to
speed so to speak

Glad you haven't knocked it on the head completely yet J...
I must admit, I can imagine how frustrating it must be living inland and not being able to sail very often. I start getting twitchy if
I haven't been out for a week, let alone a few months.
Although, saying that, I could actually get out on the water doing something every day if I had the time and inclination to do so, and
if I include beach based sports such as landsailing and kite-mountainboarding then theres ALWAYS something to do, so with the right
kit, a weekend (even if it is only once a month) at the beach shouldn't be a complete washout.
Once a month wouldn't be enough for me though either.
Hope you'll keep us informed of what its like to be an ex-windsurfer!!!

He's back....and he's bad!
Glad to report that J... is ready to get back on the water after a break of little more than a year!
Having replaced his board and dusted off the rest of the kit he is now ready to get wet once again and is already planning some
weekends in Portland and Poole.
Lets hope that his new enthusiasm will ensure that I make more of the opportunities to sail!
Is there wind on the way??
