Angry's problems at Borth
Angry_Apple...
I've just been reading your
Diary
Entry from Tuesday... Sounds like you had quite an adventure, although I must admit, I'm not quite sure how!!!
First up, as you seem to have some strange 'magnetic' attraction to the groynes here at Borth, then if you were surfing from the Golf
Course Car Park as you say you were, then why not go out to the North of the last Groyne?? The current on Tuesday was running S-N
anyway, so you would then have drifted away from the groynes and they couldn't get in your way.
Also, it wasn't a huge tide on Tuesday, so the water only just made it to the pebbles on that part of the beach, so you wouldn't have
had any trouble with the pebbles just there either.
As a general rule, unless the waves are huge, then theres probably not much point in surfing at Borth when the tide is right in and
breaking on the pebbles as it means the beach is steeply shelving, and not only do the waves dump onto the pebbles but they are also
messed up by the reflection of the waves from the pebble bank... Its usually best to wait for the tide to drop a little. On the rare
occasions that its really big and the waves clean then it can be OK, but those occassions are rare, and at your level the waves would
be too big for you.
I was at the beach all day on Tuesday and the waves only ever got to about 2 foot, and they weren't really particularly good waves
anyway, just windblown mush as I'm sure you discovered.
I'm glad to hear you were out with a frined anyway who was able to help you, and glad to hear you are both OK now and have learnt your
lesson.... Don't give up yet, Borth is probably one of the safest beaches to learn on though, so I wouldn't venture anywhere more
'hardcore' for a while yet.
Stick with it.

Blimy
just read the diary entry and it makes my bad day in France sound like a walk in the park. Still, just remember the saying "chicks dig
men with body damage"....having scars from surfing must be up there on the 'coll' list of ways to hurt yourself!
Is there wind on the way??

Steady on guys... she's only 15!!
Sorry Angry, I read your diary entry and it said 29th July, so I thought that was the day you were out... Which would explain why I
found it difficult to see how you'd got wrapped around a groyne!!!
Hoepfully I'll see you out there as soon as we get some waves again and I'll be able to keep an eye on you.
