Wednesday 21st Sept

It's looking good for tomorrow - Wednesday 21st Sept.

I'm planning to head out for a sail sometime in the morning with Graham... Rather than get him trashed in the shorebreak again I think we'll head to the estuary and may well meet up with Shem there as well.

Anyone else around?

Al.

info

Hi Al,
I have recently changed my windsurfing board, as I need a knee replacement and too young! I now have a AHD dining room table..but fab to be back out on the water again. Thinking of venturing out in the estuary soon...how are the currents there? is it 2 hours each side of HW or walk throu soft sand and go Lw water coming in with the tide in E wind?
I normally buggy as much as poss, but need to get back into windsurfing. Used to teach and sail short boards..now older, slower and larger!!
thanks
Sally

I have got tomorrow off and planing to go to Borth or Aberdovey but was wondering which would have the best waves. Ill be on a kite and surfboard, and figure cross/on at Borth will be good, but will Aber have better waves?

Hi Sally, I haven't sailed in the Estuary for a while myself, but as we're on neap tides at the moment there will probably be enough water in the estuary throughout the tidal range.... It'll be best 3 hours either side if HW though I'd imagine.

I'd imagine the waves will be pretty blown out at Borth and there won't be any at Aberdovey itself, but it'll be blown out at graveyards and over the bar as well.

They'll be cleaner in the corner at Borth, but there isn't much room for kiting there at the moment because of the sea defence works.

The waves off the point in the estuary will probably be ok.... I think that is where Shem is aiming to sail.

Haha... Was pretty good out there. Gusty as always in the estuary in a SW, but once out in the channel it wasn't toom bad.

Maxed out on 5.2m Warp and Mistral Red Dot to start with, but changed down to 4.5m sail and JP Wave board which was better, but I did sink in the lulls.

Dave and Sarah were out too, as was Graham who was getting to grips with things in the shallows.

There were a few kiters out from Aberdovey and a couple out off the seafront at Ynyslas too... Wind was perfect all day long.... September has delivered the goods so far!

It was a bit gusty, but when it's gusting from 30 to 35 knots it isn't really a problem!!
