Travelling for pleasure to Kerala
Getting away from all hustle and bustle of everyday life is perhaps the most important motivation for travel these days. An individual
likes to have fun, excitement and a good past time whenever possible. Various tourism brochures and folders developed by the tour
operators give particular emphasis to the pleasure aspect of the holiday packages at various destinations.
The surveys undertaken by the Indian Statistical Institute on the attitudes and preferences of the foreign tourists indicates that more
than 43 percent of the tourists visited India for the purpose of ‘pleasure’. In Kerala tours are now conducted according
to the tastes and preferences of the visitor. In short, a visitor now has the freedom to choose the itinerary of his choice after
leafing through the various tourism hotspots in the state.
Perhaps in no other part of the state can you a see a multiplicity of historical and archeological monuments as in Trivandrum, the
capital city of Kerala. The natural forests on the one end of the district and the hill stations at Ponmudi and adjacent to the
Peppara dam is a must visit for the nature enthusiast. The world renowned beach resort, Kovalam is an unavoidable destination for the
international tourist.
A tourist on a short visit to the state can also avail the tour packages that will exclusively take him through the various tourist
centers that offer more scope for adventure tourism. Right from the famous beach resort Kovalam, he can move on to the north after
enjoying a ride in the backwaters in the popular houseboats.
With the emergence of Kumarakom as a major tourist center, the backwater tourism has got a much needed boost. Right at the vicinity of
this picturesque place, there are enough opportunities for the adventure tourist to indulge in all types of pleasure activities. You
can climb the steep hills and other cliffs while being soothed by the mist hovering overhead. The nature treks will take you to deeper
areas of the biodiversity reserves, wherein you will have to seek the help of a candle or torch light to move around during day time
due to the thick evergreen foliage overhead.
