Aberystwyth MTB Rides Week beginning 25th May 2009
Night Ride
YMBC weekly evening ride is on Wednesday May 27th and the venue is the Dyfi forest. Meet at the usual car park above Ceinws at 7:00 pm.
We will ride a combination of the ClimachX trail plus a couple of extras (enduro trails - probably the Builth plus maybe Elephant and
the final Dyfi descent or the three-in-one).
Lights are probably not a necessity for later on in the ride, but bring them if you feel like it. . Maybe bring something warm for the
end of the ride as it can still get cold later on. Bringing a change of clothing might be a good idea.
Brechfa
I'm planning a ride around the Raven Trail at brechfa on Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully get there for 1pm. Let me know if you want to
join me.
End of Month Ride
Sunday meeting at Strata Florida. Start Strata Florida, car park or by wall; 35 miles and c 2000m ascent. From Strata-florida a
couple of miles climb on road before join rocky byway and climb up to watershed at 480m ; then begins a long descent on rocky track via
about 8 river crossings to join tarmac near Dolgoch YH (8 miles done) just north of Llyn Brianne and at the foot of the Devils
Staircase---tarmac 1:4 climb 500ft ascent before descending and down along to Abergwesyn (tarmac section for 6 to 7 miles). After
Abergwesyn back onto moorlands, climbing steadily, with some pushing on Elenyyd bog, to top at Carnau 537m on a big open moorland
section; from there pick up sheep tracks / quad bike tracks to cross over into Elan valley near Rhiwnant (7 mile section will take
nearly 2 hours this bit!). Join track around Claerwen to Teifi pools...(bit of a slog this bit)...and then great tarmac downhill to
finally finish on farm tarcks thro` Caemadog. Bring spare socks / plenty food and drink / good sense of humour. Total ride time will
be about 6 hours.... this is a big day out!...plus time for mechanicals etc etc .
General Info
There is a group of 10ish transient and 4-5 regular “hardcore” riders who join in on these rides in and around
Aber/Mach.
We will ride for 2-2¬? hours depending on the people who join us, at a social pace. Please feel welcome to join us at any time.

I'm not doing the end of month ride today, but do fancy a ride somewhere. Maybe Angler's Retreat out to Hyddgen and down the chute.
Anyone else fancy a ride in the sunshine?
