the schools themselves seem to have basic accomm in porto pollo but my wife fancied something a bit nicer as she will be the one

Hey LB, Just spotted this in the text on one of the websites, don't know whether you are hireing your equipment or taking your own but
just be aware of their terms. It says that hired equipment may not be checked till 24 hrs after it has been returned. Seeing as you
have to pay such a hefty deposit, I think I'd want it checking immediately and my deposit returning.

well spotted jon. I have emailed that school about a course.
i do have my own equipment but my kite is a 2004 c-shaped CO2 with bar. The safety equip is not great and it doesnt depower very well
as you can imagine.
if the course goes well i was thinking of upgrading to a bow kite. I suppose i could buy before i go but alternatively i could try
their gear and decide if i like it.
how much is a new-ish bow kite+bar these days? i havent looked for a while.

Second hand equipment can vary in price quite considerably and depends on a multitude of things. I think as long as you avoid the first
generation of Bows/SLE's and check that they are in good condition, you won't go far wrong. There are plenty for sale on
Kiteboarder.co.uk, flexifoil.co.uk forum and ebay. If you check around the kiteshops, quite a few of them sell new last years model's
at reduced prices.
Good luck
