SNAKES AND BLADDERS AT BORTH
On Sunday just gone, I went for a Wazz behind the dunes near the top end of the car park.
On returning to the car park, i only go and stumble (literally) across a snake.
The Adder was a cheesed off at being disturbed from catching the very few rays of sunshine that day and it promptly wrigged off, deep
into the spiky Marram grass.
I had a nose about and spotted another of these beautiful critters (half the size of the first) basking in the sunlight.
So, just a word of warning, if you are walking about with bare feet,
around the dunes, just keep an eagle eye out for these snakes.
Because of their great camuoflage, i didn't see the first one till i actually knocked it with my foot and it moved.
They take a lot of provoking before they'll bite, but accidently treading on one would do the trick and the bite can be painfull (and
very rarely fatal).

Yeah, I've seena few in the dunes here, or more often than not basking on the path in the sunshine. I had to call the helicopter out
once whilst working on Saunton Beach to sirlift a guy to hospital who had been bitten by one. He spent a few days in hospital on a drip
and in a pretty bad way. He did pull through OK, but it was touch and go for a day or two.
