Geocaching
You may have noticed from my diary entries that whilst on the Isle of Man recently we had a go at geocaching during the light wind
days.
I'm not usually into such things but as I already had a GPS unit and came across the geocaching.com website by accident one day we
thought we'd give it a go. It is actually quite good fun. For those of you who have never heard about it this is how they describe it
on the geocaching.com website: quote: Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a
good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and
organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the
location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is
asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.
There are loads of caches all over the place, some in remote areas, others in the middle of cities. We chose fairly easy ones to start
with and basically used them as an excuse to go for a walk (With Morgan in tow in a pushchair). It adds a new twist to a walk and gives
you something to aim for other than just the top of a hill!
Anyone else here done any Geocaching??!
