Snow in the Welsh Hills

Here are a few photos from 6000ft today looking out to the Welsh Hills. You can see where a band of snow had passed through the Cheshire Gap that was just melting in the foreground.

Temperature was around -7c up there!

We had another good day in the hills today. Started off in the usual spot but the snow wasn't as deep as it had been and it was a bit cut up with all the traffic it had had over the past few days.

Brad and Eloise drove up from Bristol for some snowboarding and Dave and Sarah came yout too. We then headed off to a spot I had had my eye on for a while. We met Harvey, Siwan and John and started the long trek to the top. In actual fact there were a few hills so we stopped at the first peak and played around on that in fresh, virgin powder before heading right to the top for a mad kamikazee run down a pretty steep hillside... Some mad speeds were reached on the boogie boards and each run ended with a jump over a track and then usually a big crash on the other side.

The snowboarding up there was excellent too and once at the bottom you could see lots of lovely carving lines all over the hillside. To top it all off, the sun was shining and the views from the top in all directions were astounding, we could pretty much see the whole sweep of Cardigan Bay... You thought the old location as Eistedfodd Gurig was good, the new one is much better despite the climb to get to it.

Sunday morning, and Ive just got back from a epic snow kite sesh!! 20 knots of perfect clean wind, and perfect direction for Aberdyfi mountain, better still there was still a foot of snow left.

Started off really powered on ther 5 meter beamer2, then as it kept building moved down to the 2.5 meter.

Really good sesh, had some nice jumps. Still feels strange going up hill on a snow board!!
