Still waiting for a decent SW. I did think about them on Thursday when i was out on my small board, but the wind was in the wrong
direction and there was no one else around.
Looks as though it will have to wiat until the autumn.

hey calm down , i,ve had some good ones this week "too windy today" was one from wed ha,ha
"too good today " was another as jumping was great
my latest was "knackered nights all week in at 7am 3hrs micro wave sleep , back to beach by 12pm sail all day back to work.

I dont get the wrong tack thing,if u can jump on port then you should be able to jump on starboard,& thus loop attemps! can people
only gybe on 1 tack?  sailing at lots of different locations in various
wind directions must help with this...

I can jump (and gybe) on both tacks and thought it would be the same for looping..... But it wasn't!!! Starboard tack looping just
didn't work!

Kelvin.... Sounds as though we'll have to meet up somewhere one windy day to give each other some moral support as far as the loop
attempts go... Either that or to exchange excuses!!

Al Ikeep saying I will travell up one weekend but never seem to get it on .The right tack for me your way would be NW wind . I,m ready
to go for it but never seem to get the right day/time. All the guys waiting for me to go first , the two local hotshots this way pull
then off at will on a daily basis regardless of conditions but when you ask for tips the reply is always the same "its easy mate "

Well, thats not a lot of use as my best tack would need a SW here!!
It has to be said though, that the day Spencer was here and we went for them, we managed to go for a loop off the first or second ramp
of EVERY single run, so all those years of waiting for just the right conditions, then just the right wave were quite a waste as once
I'd gone for one, there was always an opportunity to go for another.
And, although I've only actually had abour 10 attempts in total now and only sailed away from one, it 'was easy'.

I had plenty of excuses yesterday... Wedding in a couple of days, set up didn't feel quite right, foot and ribs hurt from kiting the
day before and wind was too onshore.... But that didn't stop me!!! I finally made a couple, more attempts. The first one was good and I
pretty much got all the way around and landed in the waterstart position... It is a cool feeling and a pretty mad rotation. The next
one wasn't so good and I landed on top of my kit putting yet another big crease in my sail... I can se this learning to loop process is
going to be expensive.
Good fun though.

I think I'm still a good few sessions away from starting trying but I have heard you can do some hefty damage to your ears if you land
with your head side on to the water when practising. Has it hurt yet or do you reckon its just scare-mongering?
(18 days to Vass...)

I can vouch for the truth in this - but also offer an easy solution....
I've burst my right ear drum twice tring f loops (2nd time hurt a lot less, if that's any comfort) - and as a result soon learnt that
it's pretty much essential to look backwards when you initiate the loop (i look at my back foot). Not only does this avoid aforemention
ear drum bashing, it also seems to reduce the fear factor a bit because you can't see the water accelerating towards you...... hope
that helps...

I fear I may have fallen out of the advanced class and back to upper intermediate due to going out about 4 times max since Vass last
July (last time being Xmas eve!) but I may nip back in if I really go at it hard in the first week out there. The instructors
generally ask the group what they want to work on which will doubtless mainly be carve gybes but I hope to influence them to do some
aerial stuff too. I can't wait and really want to go out beforehand but no chance to now, ah well, the world will seem a better place
when I am gliding along in the sunshine an hour after arriving in 19 days time, prepping myself for the afternoons hoolie!
