can anyone help a damsel in distress?

hey, does anyone have any idea about the surf on the east side of th uk, i.e, scarbourough, yorkshire?
i have tried to do some research into it but im failing miserably, i have heard that the water on the east coast is freezing, however im willing to give it a go, all the web cams for surf sites in this area are out of date and so im guessing that there is not that much action out of summer

Hi Zel,

I made a trip out to the east coast on boxing day to a place called Bambourgh about 20 miles north of Newcastle. A great place with loads of beaches scattered up the coast, and as you catch a wave in you've got a great big castle looming in front of you with a lighthouse behind you. Some really nice waves but yes...... VERY cold!

Theres a place that i'll be checking out very soon called Cayton Bay which is very near Scarbourough.
Its got a north east facing beach giving excellent off shore conditions, with a beach break and a reef break.
Everyone i've spoken to about this place hails it as having better waves than Devon and Cornwall! (A large statement to live up to!)

Just cos its not summer doesn't mean that you won't get any action! If anything you've got more chance of better waves and less chance of idiots being in the water and jumping on your wave!! (oooh I hate that!)

Anyway.... I hope this was of some help... also try this link, its a great site to find out about beaches in England.
