Yeah it's a great event and you get a whole range of competitors from the semi pro's right down to the downhiller mountain bikers attempting to XC on downhill bikes.

I did the event in it's first year back in 2002 / 2003 from memory, a great event but they always put it on the day after the Aber May Ball so I paid my entry fee one year and then didn't make it after going to bed only a few hours before the event started. Lazy

The brass band at the top of the first big climb was a memorable moment and also being overtaken by some old guy on something like a Rally Activator. lol

justal - 19-4-2009 at 19:20

Uh oh..... Only 2 weeks to go and my Dyfi Enduro training schedule isn't exactly going to plan!!!

Al.

justal - 28-4-2009 at 05:03

Less than one week to go until the Dyfi Enduro!!!

We had a good ride at the weekend around the course. Maybe not the exact course, but pretty close. It was all riding well, so lets hope it stays that way and doesn't get too wet this week.

Check out my blog post for a map of the Dyfi Enduro Course.

Lets hope this rain clears in time to give the course to dry out a little.

Bike is cleaned and lubed and has new rear brake pads which could do with some bedding in before Sunday.

Rear tyre looks a little suspect as well with lots of cuts and slashes and a few missing knobbles... The slatey descents last weekend have taken their toll. No time to get a new one and change it for the weekend though so shall have to keep my fingers crossed.

Bike is ready, but am I??

Al.

shem - 1-5-2009 at 22:57

Hhmmmm, my gears are a bit iffy, but work eventually, bikes dirty as ever, the way a mtb should be , Ive got loads of chocolate, and am considering carrying a stella grande bier to drink on the final descent, mmmmmmm. oh and a couple of inner tubes, a alan key and a pliers . like you, I just hope the legs are up to it :>

justal - 2-5-2009 at 06:26

Are you heading into Mach today Shem? I might pop over to see whats going on this afternoon.

Al.

Wonder how I'll feel by the end of the day! I shall get there around 8.30-9.00 Shem as I need to register and registration closes at 10am

Al.

shem - 3-5-2009 at 07:52

OK, Ill be there soon after, just done 15 miles on the ninja to warm me up.

chase - 3-5-2009 at 18:17

so how did it go then?

shem - 4-5-2009 at 09:22

went perfectly until I broke my bike beyond riding 4 miles from the end

paul s - 4-5-2009 at 18:39

I must get over and do it one of these years. So will you now be carrying a spare mech hanger when you head out ? Once you've had one fail it becomes another standard part of the get-you-home spares collection.

justal - 5-5-2009 at 07:31

Yep, we'll soon be carrying spare bikes!

Had a great day, saw loads of people and I was pleased with my performance. Was in the top 200 so had to do the extra punishment loop as well... Not happy about that at the time, but glad I was in the top 200.

Al.

shem - 5-5-2009 at 07:52

I may start carrying one, although it does get to the point that you could carry every part! I tried setting up as single speed, but have since been told that I could have tensioned it using tooth paste tube, (always worth carrying for various reasons), and zip ties. hhmmmmm

chase - 5-5-2009 at 07:57

yeah tooth paste, we all carry that when biking

justal - 5-5-2009 at 09:36

Toothpaste tube is good for patching slashes in Tyres as well.
