Slalom and demo weekend in Aberdovery 23-24 June 2012
Pocket Rocket - 20-6-2012 at 17:18

It is time for our 1st Aberdovey windsurfing demo of the year on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June. All the suppliers will be there in force with the latest kit to try out. You can expect all the usual fun and action on the water with Windsurfing and Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP). The demo weekend will take place in the beautiful setting of Aberdovey, the perfect flat water bump and jump location in Wales. For those wanting a bit of wave action there is a sand bar just out of the estuary mouth for you to get your fix on. The demo starts at 10am Saturday and will finish about 4pm Sunday.

What if there's no wind?
Even if there's no wind you can have a go at Stand Up Paddle Boarding there will be loads of boards to try out on the water. There's loads to do around Aberdovey town and in the area there's: amazing mountain biking, golf courses, climbing, walking, fishing etc. etc. So you won't be short of something to do if it doesn't blow!

Stay over for the party
On the Saturday night it's party time with live bands, a bbq and usually far too much beer! Parking is right next to the beach and as long as the correct fees are paid, camping in vans overnight is allowed on Friday and Saturday nights. If your looking for somewhere to stay check out the Aberdovey website for a list of guest houses or cottage rentals in the area. There are also several campsites along the coast road with the nearest one being just 5 minutes up the coast road towards Tywyn.

BSA Slalom 4
Sponsored by Jp/Neilpryde the slalom event is always great fun with classes for all levels of sailors and a prize fund of £500 (courtesy of Aberdovey). More information or to enter see the UKWA website here.

Aberdovey is a beautiful town with loads to do so bring the whole family along for a great weekend.

See you there!

Wind looks good for Friday and Saturday at the moment.

I'll no doubt pop over on Saturday if its windy enough. Who else is going?

Although latest forecasts have it windy on Friday and then dropping off on Saturday... lets hope not.

Gutted... Tripped and fell over on a run this morning which resulted in pretty bad road rash on both knees, the palms of both hands and one elbow... Continued to finish the 10 mile run but was pretty sore by the end of it.

Therefore didn't feel like driving to Aberdyfi and climbing into a wetsuit so missed out on what looked like a perfect days sailing. Could have gone out in the waves here but sat around feeling sorry for myself instead.

There's always next time.

hard luck Al. you missed an great daturday, huge swell consistant wind( 6m kite allday) only thing missing was the sun. as for sunday i was out on the 12m from about 10.30 till just after 4; when the wind dropped off a little had a great time on the skim board even managing to jibe it till i went over the top one time and landed heavily on my heel. oh and full sun........a burnt head!

Yep Al, you could even have done the 6.30am - 10 slot with me on Sunday (on a 9m kite). Nice swell as Neil said and stronger through the estuary entrance on flat water early on! Friday eve and Sat were great too on small kites...

Hope the road rash is recovering...
