Tarifa advice please
shawn - 27-2-2006 at 09:00

I'm off for a long w/e in Tarifa & am after some advice please...

Does anyone have recommendations as to where to stay - in town, or at the beach? We are likely to be hiring kit from the mistral centre.

If you have any personal faves, accom or restaurants etc.. please let me know.

shawn,

i'd stay in town and drive or taxi out that way you'll get more drinking and parting done. although as a windsurfer you may not need a car, if your only sailing from the mistral center

The last 3 times i went over we stayed at the tres mares hotel, which is right at the main beach..u will need a hire car though! A vauxhall Zafira does the trick, especially with handbrake turns

Is any of the Massive up for a trip to Tarifa sometime? CAUSE I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from there, and had a few months there in 03., great place!

I'm aching to go back so surfed the net and managed to find some interesting deals, like car hire for 100 EURO a week. The Mistral centre is too far out of town to walk (takes about an hour, did it last week) so your options are to stay in town and drive to the centre, or stay at the Tres Mares or Camping Tarifa / Torre de la Pena (not sure which is nearest) and drive into town. I'd prefer the latter but that's coz I'm a boring fart! If you stay in town you don't have to worry about drink driving.

Hmmm... may have to get a trip organised!

we stayed at the hurricane hotel for a few days 2 years ago - a bit pricey but very nice. out of town (on the way to the mistral centre i thnk) though so you will need a car to get around if you were there
cheers
