New Personal Diaries Section
justal - 14-1-2003 at 19:21

At last, after hours and hours of work I've finally finished the new Personal Diaires Section.

Members can record, track and analyse their Forces-of-Nature sports sessions and toy usage. See which toys you use most, which ones you get the best sessions from, how often you get out each month etc etc.

Its Free and Easy to use, so check it out.

I'll probably be adding more features soon, so if theres anything you think is missing, or any problems then let me know.

Alternatively, if you think its damned cool as it is, let me know as well!!!

Enjoy.

Joe asked if I could add the facility to record the air temperature within the your diary entries, so I have added a field for both Air and Sea temperatures.

Happy now Joe??

I'll also soon add a 'Wasted Trip' category so that you can track just how many times you drive to the coast but don't actually get in the water. This may seem a little negative, but it will allow you to record the 'exploring' of new locations that you do during these wasted trips, or just let you see the percentage of trips to the coast that are actually successful and worthwhile....

Also coming soon will be a revamp of the stats pages so that you can view your total, yearly and monthly stats based on Activity, Location, Wind direction or Session Rating.

I'll wait until I get my computer back before implementing these features though.

Let me know of anything else that you want / don't want.

Just discovered that I had broken the 'Registration' process for the diaries, forums, classifieds and toyboxes when I built the personal diaries section.... Which might explain why things have been so quiet here and why no one has added any diary entries.

I've mended it now, but if anyone finds any other faults with the site please let me know so that I can fix them straight away.

Cheers.

Right, I'm just too good to you all, I hope you appreciate it.

I've now just about finished the Diaries and Tybox sections.

Tonight I've added a 'most commonly used' column to the overview of your toyboxes.

In the Diaires I've added a little table at the top of each page which shows the Totoal number of diary entries this month, the number of diary entries you've submitted this month and the most active member....

Hopefully everyone will want to be the 'Most Active Member' and it'll encourage everyone to get out on the water more often!!!

I've also recently revamped the stats section as promised... I decided against the 'Wasted Trip' category as I thought it was a little too negative... if anyone really wants it though, let me know and I'm sure I can put it in for you.

Enjoy.

Nice one Al... I like the Most active member thing, excpet I'll never be on it.

Actually it'll probably be you on it all the time which makes it pretty silly really.

OK Stevievee... Just for you I've changed it... Not bad seeing as its less than an hour since you posted your comment.

It now shows the top 3 most active members... Although I doubt that I will always be top as there must be plenty of students / unemployed windsurfers, kitesurfers and surfers out there who can get out more often than me. Still, its nicer having the top three listed.

I've just added a Hall of Fame page to the diaries section.

It shows:

Just click on the Hall of Fame link at the top of the diaries pages.

Like it??

Hey I like it...The Hall of Fame that is.

Except I'm sure you doing these things just to highlight just how little some of us actually get out on the water.

Just checked out the diaries - how cool are they?? Brilliant!

I'm a bit like SeanBo (cheers for your comments after my SA whinge!) in that I get fed up with reading about how 'stoked' the pros are after sailing their sponsored kit in Maui... I want to read Brogborough Lake, I want Phoenix 320s, I want people with cold hands and frozen smiles... gimme real life any day, it makes me feel HEAPS better! Guess I'd better get back in the water and start filling in my own...

Cheers Guys
