dyfi endur winter warmer
shem - 26-1-2011 at 15:12

Just spent a few hours up the dyfi forest checking out a few rails, especially the less riden ones, in prep for the winter warmer on Sunday.
the elephant trail IS UNRIDABLE AFTER THE SHARP CORNER, due to newly felled trees, and theres at least 3 trees down on the builth descent, so that will prob not be used either.

So what will the route be!

Hae now heard the route, sounds pretty hardcore, well the amount of climbing does! One lap I think for me

mines a tad easier with a 450 ktm for company..

Which climbs are in it then Shem?

shem - 26-1-2011 at 22:45

the first two miler, the one up from the builth back to the climax, the climax route as if u go back on it after no3 towards the triples then up the final dyfi enduro descent, apparently anyway, pretty tuff for a short course I thought. Ill tell u what im told the full route is over the phone, be quicker

Guess I'd better give my bike the once over - Although the lurgy seems to have taken hold again - Maybe just the 1 lap for me?

Uh oh, snapped spoke on my rear wheel. Best see if I get fix that before tomorrow.

Spoke has been fixed, but brakes aren't great and rear wheel is rubbing - That's the least of my worries though, my bike is fighting fit in comparison to my body!

Oh well, I'll be looking forward to the bacon butty and hot chocolate in the Corris Craft Centre Cafe.

my bike was the same, all was fine then day before bottom bracket is nackered, head set bearing battered and a snapped spoke, odd! Martyns got snapped spokes as well, I wonder if they get brittle when out cycling in minus temperatures?

Well, it went better than I was expecting as I managed to finish all three laps and in a fairly good time too. I haven't downloaded the gps data yet but I think my total time from the Corris Craft Centre was 2:44.

First lap was pretty easy and quite fast, second lap was ok but final descent was a bit sketchy. Third lap fine, but final descent was lethal and I was super cautious on it.
