well I'm keeping my fingers crossed for getting out both saturday and sunday, my new 6.4 hasn't arrived but as it's forecasting force 6 to gale 8 down here I guess I won't need that much sail

heres to what could be a great weekend

So Paul and BEFS (BadExcuseForaSailor) Did you get out today??

It was mad here...A little too much wind and waves really, but still pretty good to be out in the challenging conditons. Looks like more of the same for tomorrow as well, so I might head to the estuary and have a slightly 'easier' sail if its not too gusty in there. Otherwise I'll have to wait for the tide to drop and sail from the Lifeboat Station. Still, it was good to get out and hopefully there will be some others out as well. Although there was a few bits of kit breakage today, so not everyone will be able to get out.

I wimped out Went up to brog but it was too mad for me (and the kit I had with me 35 mph winds gusting 50 not what I was expecting as I only took my 150 lt 283 techno to the lake and taking that out in a force 7/8 wind wasn't a good idea. Think it would of broken me or the kit. I do own a 263 but I left it at home cos I was to lazy to put roof rack on car this morning as I can get all kit with one board inside the car, not gonna do that tomrow. Im still nervous of the smaller board only haveing sailed it for about an hour last year (or the cold water at brog cos Im gonna spend a lot of time in it) Water temp at brog about 5-6 celsius at the moment with windchill of -2 today

Hope everyone else was braver than me and that theres no major injurys to person or kit!

befs

There were no major injuries to person here at Borth as far as I am aware, byt Simon well and truly destroyed a sail...Not only was it ripped in just aboiut every panel, but there was actually bits of it missing!!!

Steve broke his sail as well.

Just a normal day at Borth in a SW really.

BEFS, Sheeesh was it that windy today??!! It must have been I guess, as I had to change down to 15m lines on my 2.2m kite and even then it felt dangerous, maybe I should have come to Brogborough after all

Although for my first sail of the year in those sort of winds wouldn't be too sensible would it.

Maybe catch you there sometime soon, its almost warm enough for me.

Al; Did you manage to get the caravan out of the mud? Is it tied down?

justal - 8-3-2003 at 22:07

Nope, its still well and truly stuck in the mud and isn't tied down either!!!

Got a man with a tractor coming out to help later in the week though.

What do you mean, nearly warm enough for you!!!... I thought you only sailed in the Caribbean theses days you big girl!!

I didn't wimp out today wind was about the same as yesterday but I didn't leave the small stuff at home today. Had to come off water a few times cos it just got so windy people out on 4.5 my smallest is a 5.3.
Was first proper sail I'd had on the smaller board it felt good would of been better with a little less wind spent most of the time really heading up wind and still going at warp speed.
