Online Kite Theft!
Donnie - 29-1-2007 at 17:10

Hi Everyone,

Desperate to start Kitesurfing with my own kit, but recently suffered a setback I feel I should warn you about.

After working overtime for 2 months, I finally scapped together enough money to buy the Kite of my dreams - Switchblade 2 - I finally bought it on ebay for £730 just before Christmas from a seller that seemed trustworthy - one month on, still nothing for my money. Recent extensive internet research revealed the seller has had a number of Alias's on ebay including 'Kitesurfing_shop' and 'Extreme Sports Discount' - each account had a number of good transactions with small stuff, then suddenly when he sold an expensive Kite, the buyer posted a 'paid for item but no delivery after 90 days' feedback - the ebay account was then shut down.

It's a public forum so I can't tell you his name - but if any of you are thinking of buying a kite on ebay, contact me and I'll tell you if the sellers email address is the guy you need to watch out for! Also if you've had a similar experience - get in touch so we can take him to court!!

Hope to see you all out on the water once I've saved up enough to buy another kite... from a shop:mad::mad:

Name and shame!

kiteboardingcrazy - 31-1-2007 at 13:05

always pay for stuff via pay pal and have your credit card regestered as the account for money to come out off that way you are double covered, pay pal get you your money back if not the credit card company will and credit card companys are shit hot on fraud, never buy stuff without them having a pay pal account...
people like then ruin it for legit sellers
sorry about your loss though..

tell me the name and i will announce the ******!!!

Fat Shady - 3-2-2007 at 16:25

There is of course the possibility that Donnie could just be a competitor from another brand of kite trying to assosiate negative events with buying Blade kites on the internet

New member, one post

Appologies of course Donnie if you are genuine but there are so many kite pimps these days, in so many different forms that I am just cynical now.

jon d hat - 3-2-2007 at 20:49

Er... Switchblades are manufactured by Cabrinha....Blades by Flexifoil.....Beasts and Horns by Blade, and I don't think any of their Kites go for £730.

This site doesn't suffer anywhere near the amount of pimping as other sites do, bit of harmless ribbing between Shem and Col from time to time and Carl'Zenna'..well he puts his offers in a thread but no real pimping or brand bashing. Threads on other sites I wont mention often contain brand, shape, bridle, board bashers, dosn't seem to matter what the content is, they'll weedle their way in some how.

So as not to get off track and come across as a pimp basher, me thinks donnie was just tryin to warn us about another online $h!th£ad

Fat Shady - 3-2-2007 at 21:32

That will teach me to read threads properly before I spout off

You are right though this forum is generally free from the endless pimping and brand bashing that seems to happen on other forums.

Long may it continue
