Just thought I'd let you know that the 'Borth Masters' surf contest is back on and will be held in Borth this weekend (Oct 15th &16th).

Will the tournament be held by the lifeboat station as originally planned? I hope to watch it whilst not surfing myself. Are many people taking part?

justal - 14-10-2005 at 20:44

I would imagine that is the plan, although with the offshore winds, the waves could be better (bigger) at Ynyslas end of the beach.

I'm not going to enter, and there wasn't much surf out there this evening, so we'll have to see if anything arrives by tomorrow... Hope so.

Sounds as though the surf is pumping!!!

They couldn't have picked a better day for it, glorious warm weather, and surf as good as it gets... It wasn't that big at the lifeboat station, just a couple of feet but it was clean and further up the beach the surf was going off.

Anyone have any results?

I had a couple of good days but I didn't see where the actual competition was taking place. Where was it?

At the Lifeboat Station.

I thought so. Must have been good for those taking part. Do you know who won each category?

Not sure about the results yet, but here are some photos I took... I'm sure there will be better ones banging about somewhere though as there was some expensive looking camera kit on the beach.

Those pictures are pretty good anyway. Apparently somebody was taking photographs of me surfing and my brother kayaking one day. My parents said it looked as though he had quite good equipment. Maybe somebody in Borth is a keen surf phtographer.

I'm gutted I missed the comp, I didn't even hear anything about it!! Last year the promotion for it was pretty big, ahh well next year perhaps! Looked like pretty small conditions compared with other local spots though.

jamesy101 - 19-10-2005 at 15:31

I know what you mean, last year the whole stormriders home page was an advert but this year I only heard when Al mentioned it on here. I wouldn't have taken part anyway because I would have been awful compared to the others.

So does anyone know who won the various catagories? also is there any other photos floating about on the web somewhere?

justal - 22-10-2005 at 07:59

Martin won the longboarding and came second in the short board class... First in the shortboard was a guy from tywyn (maybe Graham?? but I'm not sure).

justal - 24-10-2005 at 06:25

Don't worry about us too much Booger. It was much better than that elsewhere. Even just a mile along the beach it was three times that size.
