hi there,

just picked up a job lot of windsurf gear and noticed a few parts were missing, when i say old i mean old,

i've got a hifly nova 365 with daggerboard but no connection to the masts and i don't think the rear fin fits,

A spectrum ,not sure what size, board but has'nt got a mast connection point just a grove where the there should be one, no dagger board or connection for one/ hole for one, and i can't fit the fin ,

can i buy some connection's for it ?? , i'll take some hpotos later on if your not sure what i'm on about,

Yep... Take some photos of the mast tracks and fin slot as someone here might have something suitable or might be able to point you in the direction of shop that does have.

The Hifly Nova may just take standard fittings anyway, but I've never heard of a 'spectrum' board.

first 2 are off the nova and then the last one of the TAD Spectra,

the TAD spectra does'nt have a daggerboard is that right? also i've attached the fins now took a bit of working out,

anyone know what they need?

From that, the third photo should take any normal deck-plate. They are all the same these days and that looks like a standard mast track.

The first one will need a specific fitting if you want to use the sliding mast track, but quite often you'll be able to dispense with the plastic sliding bit and remove the plastic cap at the end of the track meaning that you can fit a standard deck plate into it as well.... I'd say buy a standard deck plate which will fit the second board and once you have that you should be able to see if it will fit the first as well... It looks as though it should.

Your local windsurf shop should be able to help out as you probably won't need a model specific deck plate.

i got the masts today , there massive fibreglass poles , hollow with no fittings or anything on the ends of them , they look like drain pipes, i think i'll sell the masts and the big board and buy a standard deck fitting and a mast to fit it with ,

how do i attach the masts though, as i said there hollow at the end, do i need a deckplate with fittings for a hollow tube ( cup i think its called) and are they all the same size?

You need a mast extension (or cup)... That fits into the bottom of the mast and has pulleys on it to downhaul the sail. It will then have a quick release fitting into which the pin on the deck plate fits.

There are various types of pin though so I'd recommend buying a deck plate and extension at the same time to make sure they are compatible.

would this work? , i don't understand how it stays attached though, it'll slide onto the cup but how does it stay tight on there?

Yep, that'll do the trick... It stays in the mast because it is pulled into it by the tension on the downhaul rope....

If you don't know how to rig the sail then I'd recommend getting someone to show you or else you'll never have it rigged right. I don't know how old the sail is, but modern (and we're talking at least the last 15 years) sails need loads of downhaul tension to get them rigged correctly.

also, is the mast diameters the same on all masts and mast cups?? i'll go and check what diameter mine have tonight,

The masts you will have will probably be standard diameter (SDM). You can get Reduced Diameter Masts (RDM) these days, but I doubt that you will have one as they are more expensive and a little more specialist.

Mast cups / extensions also come in SDM and RDM sizes, but again most are still standard diameter.
