Fuel prices keeping you away?
dunk - 16-6-2008 at 15:10

So where were you all at the weekend?

Sunshine all weekend and a seabreeze yesterday. There was hardly anyone around. Only Adam and Myself kitesurfing. One windsurfer out and a few buggies on the beach. I could see a few kites over Dovey late afternoon though.

Is it the price of fuel???????

pebble - 16-6-2008 at 15:13

dunk - 16-6-2008 at 16:16

Fart Boy - 16-6-2008 at 17:08

I don't own any big kites now so decided to earn some points at home. Still water related though I empted all 4500 gals from my Koi pool and clean it out. It's been three years since I last did it so well due.

Kept the rest of the family amused as I slipped a few times.

mNeil - 16-6-2008 at 18:19

Kitefish - 16-6-2008 at 20:47

Just knew there would be some wind, although had lots to do at home. Also went Badger watching that was cool too One of my better pics as the sound of the camera made them nervous.

shem - 16-6-2008 at 23:43

wikid pic Nick, got some good spots up here for the old badger gazing !havnt ben for ages myself, but always great to see hey. Any takers for this week then????

dunk - 17-6-2008 at 11:14

Lol at AJ, did you have to walk to Tiree????????

Wait til you get to my age!

The boyz who went to Medano enjoyed 11 days sailing in solid wind and blazin sunshine.

I'm working this week, so only sailing and windsurfing for me.

Dunks

Hi Dunk,

well i certainly can confirm its the fuel price that makes me think twice.

last year a trip to borth and back was done for about £60-£65, this year its around £90. So unless it looks like going to be a good sail weather, which for me means more wind than most due to my extra poundage then I would not make the trip but do some stuff at home instead.

Not sure how far these prices will keep going but have seem some diesel sites at 1.35+ per litre now. Thats over £6.12 per gallon in old money.

Mark

justal - 18-6-2008 at 12:39

We saw Diesel at £1.38 a litre at the weekend... Looks like I shall have to stay at the beach more and not drive anywhere.

dunk - 18-6-2008 at 13:07

Fuel prices suck!

Princess Lara and myself are spending £500 a month on fuel at the mo!

Spooker - 18-6-2008 at 13:47

I can top that Dunk - and there's just one of me!

That comes of living in the midlands, working on the East coast - and sailing on the West!

shem - 18-6-2008 at 14:36

Ye, I spend £80- £100 a week on the pick up, and about 10-20 quid a week on the motor bike. I have to use the pick up for work, its either that or a lorry, and at least I save loads by using the motor bike to go see jobs, personal outa work stuff etc.

Its just a evil essential. I wish I could find a 1.3 litre vehicle that still carried a tonne!!!! ( oh and actually still moved). Must admit I would be re thiniking kite surfing if it cost me £90 a week to get to the beach. Should get yourselves, motor bikes with board racks and a tent I recon!!!

Graham - 18-6-2008 at 16:01

I was out Beaver spotting

Spooker - 18-6-2008 at 16:29

Why's that Graham - couldn't find any beaver??

Spooker - 18-6-2008 at 16:30

They don't frequent mens toilets much nowadays,

or so I've heard?

col123 - 18-6-2008 at 20:34

i've been to woolacombe two weeks ago and newquay cornwall last weekend....

only not coming out to play at the mo to give you lot a chance to catch up...Dunk and Neil not included on that one!!!

marginal days ain't worth it at the Mo...18knts plus for me, then again i then go and spend a fortune on the enduro bike races..oh well..

spoose we could all take up knitting like spooker

how do you fancy an mx session at mallory on saturday or sunday.?

mNeil - 19-6-2008 at 14:28

your going to miss a good weekend at borth Nick!

nick-r - 19-6-2008 at 18:12

you're probably right...options are open though.....i'll wait and see what the weather's doing and then decide...

ajwhitewater - 19-6-2008 at 19:38

Just a thought with the camper van, does anyone know were they might be a secure lockup around borth, you could leave the campers there at the weekends, and then all come up in one car at the weekends, think that would defiantly help with costs.

Hi everyone, running your vehicle on gas is always an increasing cost, but there is a way that can be more profitable than this. Now you can easily use a system that allows you to convert your fuel costs to save huge amounts of running your vehicle. You can learn to build a simple inexpensive device, attach it to a vehicle's engine and convert that vehicle into a
water-burning hybrid .
