February's End of Month ride is on Sunday 28th Feb 2010 09:00 am at Llandegla.
We'll leave Aberystwyth at 8:30 to get to Llandegla by 10:30. This is the first YstwythMTB trip to this purpose built trail. It has
recently been extended to incorporate 11 k of new trail and hopefully the pump track will also be open.
Also, they do the best bacon baps in the Uk at the cafe there so it's well worth a trip.
Al.
The skills area and the pump track are open. If its icey or snowy check before you travel as they are often closed
You gonna join us BEFS?
Al.
Im down in the forest of dean that weekend so unable to make it
Looks as though there should be a nice group of us again for this.... The Boyz from Bristol are heading North for a day out in the
Welsh hills and there should be a few of us from Aber too.
Anyone else coming so that I know to look out for you?
Al.
Up there yesterday morning and it was stunning in the snow and sunshine! All recent work is now completed, so pump track and skills
area are open. Worth checking before you go, as its been shut a fair bit recently with snow and ice making the car park and trails
inaccessible, and sometimes the skills area is closed for courses etc.
Bring on the wind!
Weather isn't looking the best at the moment... Strong winds and several inches of snow/rain forecast for North Wales on Sunday...
At least Llandegla is open at the mo though and we can get to the car park which reopened earlier this week. The website currently
(Saturday morning) says: "The access road from the A525 is now pretty much clear and so long as care is taken should be easily
accessible for all vehicles."
Could be an interesting day... pack the waterproofs.
Should be quite a few of us heading up there too. Me, Dave, Dan, Jon (and maybe John) from Ystwyth-MTB, Jay, Brad, Matt, Dan and Beale
from Bristol and maybe a few others too. lets hope it isn't too much of a washout.
Al.
i'll be there,
Nice one Kev... What car / bike have you got so that I can look out for you?
Al.
Turned out to be an excellent day... Weather was fine despite the reports and the trails were riding really well.
Met Dave, John, Jay, Brad, Matt, Beale and Woody in the car park and we caught up with Kev on the first climb. Kev stuck to the
red-graded trails once we headed off onto the black so we didn't see him again... I take it you made it back in one piece Kev?
We had a little play in the skills area at the end too, and of course a bacon bap!
There's a little video clip here.
Looking forward to the next one now.
Al.
hi al
waited around for a while, thought you guys had gone round again, look forward to the next time, i'll get some training in so i can
keep up
You were fine Kev... You were keeping up with the slower lot from our group, and I can't keep up with the faster ones so don't worry
about it...
Someone has to be at the back. Bring your bike next time you're down this way and we can have a ride around some of the local
trails.
Al.
nice one al i'll definitely take you up on that.
looking for trails around welshpool, do you now if its frowned upon to bike on national trails like the offas dyke, theres a couple of
places that would be quite interesting.
I'm not sure about those trails in particular, some of it will be bridleway I'm sure in which case you can ride on them. You'll have to
check the access rights to see if they are fair game or not.... Hope you find some good ones, I'm sure there must be something around
there.
Al.
