Swimming Wetsuit?
alistair - 14-8-2013 at 12:52

What would anyone recommend for a swimming wetsuit so that I can keep swimming in the sea when the weather gets colder (as it has already started to do). I generally only swim for about 15-20 minutes mainly breast stroke and not particularly fast.

Also is there anywhere in or around Aberystwyth that sells good wetsuits or will I need to buy online?

Yep, you definitely need a swimming wetsuit for swimming in the sea.. And it will start to get colder soon. if you want to keep swimming all winter than you'll need a hood too, and maybe gloves and boots. A decent layer of blubber helps to keep you comfortable helps as well!

Although a surf suit will keep you warm, it isn't much use for swimming really so a dedicated swimming wetsuit from companies such as Blue Seventy, Orca, TYR, Speedo etc will be what you need.

Unfortunately there isn't anywhere around Aber that sells them, so you'll need to make a trip to s triathlon shop that sells them or buy online. If buying online then make sure the company offers a good returns policy as you'll want to make sure it fits well.

I would definitely recommend a good wetsuit and the other necessities that justal described.
I couldn't tell you if there's a good shop near by, but if justal says so. So here's what I would recommend: go to a good shop that specialises in windsurfing equipment, they usually have good wetsuits (not every shop, but generally). As good suits cost quite a lot, you might just want to check out which one fits best and decide which one you would like to purchase.
Then, head back home and check online if this wetsuit is available in a webshop. You might also want to check out websites like Voucherbox. If they have discounts for the shop you are planning to buy you will find them there. And even if there are not discounts available, you might just want to see if it's cheaper nonetheless.

Good luck finding the right one (if you haven't already)!

Oh yes .... the blubber works best of all!
