That's quite usual up there... I've seen it absolutely massive in the Outer Hebrides.... MUCH MUCH bigger than I would have gone out
in, and that was back when I was younger and madder.
Still, it was fun to watch from the beach. No one else went out either on that day.
Mind you, with 40 knot winds forecast as well, Traigh Eais on Barra will get a pounding, as will the whole W and NW coasts of the Outer
Hebrides.
The day it was really big when I was up there the waves that were wrapping around all the way into Stornoway on the far side of the
isalnd and miles away from the full force of the Atlantic were still pretty big and rideable, watching it all wrap around the Butt of
Lewis whilst standing on top of the hills was just amazing.
Now you've got me wishing I was up there again.
Al.
Never seen them that big over hear except photos, but they were at least that big when I was in Fuerte in the spring.
There is no way I was going out in that but it was an amazing site watching the swells rolling in,then after jacking up to monstrouse
proportions, hitting the rocky coastline sending spray above the height of the cliffs.
John your gonna have to come surf trap, this isnt a big day but the only photo I could find quickly.
SWEEEEEET!!!
we had it bigger than that at Tiree last month
Hells mouth was really firing yesterday, scored a sweet session on my new longboard, shoulder to head high sets, long rides on steep walls, and offshore too, what more could you ask for? Fantastic!
