I'd like some advice please.
I've just arrived (two weeks ago) from Adelaide & will be working in the UK for a year. I'm based in Hampshire. I've done a bit
of research as to what breaks are available locally & there doesn't seem much. Is Boscombe / Brighton / Bournmouth all I have to
look at down here please? My kit doesn't arrive on a container for another six weeks so I've plenty of time to do a bit of a reci if
you guys can throw down some suggestions? I mainly ride lids but have a Mccoy Nugget coming over too which I hope ought to be suited
to the smallish conditions the above places seem to offer. Any suggestions welcome guys.

I'm afraid the S. Coast isn't the best place for surf. The places you have mentioned do get waves and they are regularly surfed, but
the consistency and quality is pretty poor.
You'll be better off planning regular trips to N. Cornwall / Devon.

he's right the surf on the south coast is pretty poor, got out today in 2 to 3 foot wind driven mush, thats not a bad day at least there was a wave. But i was at Croyde in north devon a couple of weeks ago it was about 6-7 foot on the sets with a real punch i even got barreled a few times its amazing what 130 miles can do,thats what living on the south coast is all about and alot of travelling

Devon and Cornwall have been getting good swells lately and coupled with easterly winds have resulted in some epic conditions.

Try the Ilse of Wight. The south coast is open to most swells and can get quite interesting. When it gets bigger some of the bays
start to work. Compton in the south is the place, check in the with guys at X-Ilse in Bembridge for more advice. James is the surf
instructor there, he knows his stuff: 01983 873111.
10 minutes on the hover from Southsea and, mmm then a Taxi perhaps. James will keep you right.
Thanks to all the above. My stuff kit arrives 21st October so not long now. Only thing I've got to chance now is whether my 4/3 F-bomb is gonna be warm enough. Might be a hood purchase in the making perhaps. Thanks again.
If you're only here for a year then that's unfortunate, the Bournemouth (first European) artificial surfing reef is scheduled to be
built in May 2007 for completion by October. If it is not finished by then, work may be delayed until the following spring.
Should bring some better waves to Bourenmouth and attract more wave riders to the South.
