Unbelievable.
How is that I can ride 4-5 times a week, not have a mechanical for years, yet I get a front shifter failure riding up to the START of an event. Half an hour of fiddling and I concluded that it just wasn't going to happen, and I didn't have the right tools/bits to try a proper fix. About the only consolation is that it would have been a lot worse if it had failed half way around.
Had to hang around all day too as I was the team driver. The others had a good ride though, even though Nic "the puncture" managed to clock up two more in the last few miles.
Anyway, got home, got everything in bits and back together, and it's now working fine. wtf ??
Took myself out on the roadie to de-stress.

Gutted for you. I feel your pain, after my mech hanger broke at the 31 mile point of the dyfi enduro! GGrrrrr
