My first ever Maui session report.
The 3 month adventure has begun. With my January arrival I had lowered my expectations and anticipated that the first few weeks of my trip could well be very much surfing orientated. But fortunately I've had to wait only 4 days for the wind to arrive. Konas though - arrrggghhh bloody port tack. Very offshore and mega gusty meant it was hard work out there plus the swell was sporadic and small but I managed to score a couple of very tasty clean boom-highers plus plenty of I-can't-believe-I'm-in-Maui moments.
Other highlights of the session:
- I sailed right past a big turtle!
- the HUGE whale that fully breached several times about half a mile away from the sailing area
- this place is stunningly beautiful
