I am thinking about going there next Summer for a month with a van and camping. Anyone going or got any good ideas or experiences of
the area.
I don't know much, but here is my two-penneth.
We were there on a conventional holiday last year and got a quick session in. Most of the decent wind/sailing is at the North end of
the lake. The further north you go the windier it is. Torbole is the 'capital' for sailing.
Kit hire is plentiful, but you need to take ID with you. Bouyancy aids are a legal requirement.
Winds are thermal with one early and one about mid-day. The better wind is early, but we were on holiday so went at 12.
Camp sites are dotted along the shoreline at the north end, but seem very tightly packed and often very close to the road. I seem to
remember wild camping is frowned upon and you are better driving into the moutains a bit.
Sailing with mountains as a backdrop is great and the Italians are very friendly. Brits are in the minority and English speakers are in
the minority.
TimD on the boards forum is from the region and is very helpful with advise when asked.
Have fun!
Thanks for the reply sean
