To brighten up the short, dark days of winter, I've decided to have a Forces-of-Nature Awards Ceremony in the New
Year.
There will be 'standard' awards for the Best Post of 2003 and the Best Diary Entry of 2003, and there will also be
awards for anything else that you think someone deserves an award for... It'll all be in good humour and light-hearted as usual, so
start posting your nominations for
'best wipeout of the year,
'wind jinx of the year',
'hero of the year'
'whinger of the year'
or anything else you think there should be an award for.
You can only nominate Forces-of-Nature members, and you can't nominate yourself... You can bride other members to nominate you though
if you so wish!!
We need to know the name of the person you think should get the award, the name of the award and why you think they deserve it.... The
ones that sound the most deserving will receive an award in the Ceremony in January!!!
If I get around to it there might even be one or two real-life prizes up for grabs... Maybe some F-O-N 'T'-shirts with the award name
on them (but I'm not promising anything yet). I'll also make it so that the award winners get a little trophy and the award name
displayed next to their name in the forums!!
So, get your nominations in and also start nominating your favourite forum post and diary entries of 2003.
Have Fun.
Al.
Longest walk of shame perhaps? Think we had a good one recently but wasn't there to witness/measure it first hand.
Al can you help, I think you were on the same beach ;-)
Cheers
Nick
Not sure what the award should be but rabbit spending the night in his car stuck in the sand should be a good one
Nicks guide on how not to rig up on the 4-5 oct FON trip
Good air time from the board just a shame it was still onthe beach without rig or nick attached

I think the only ones I can realistically hope to achieve in the last two months of the year are :-
1) Winger
2) Least time on the water.
I have given the second one my best shot, so need to work on number 1.:-
I cant believe that there is no light left at the end of the day, what happened to evening sailing!
Why is the wind always blowing when the tide is out?
Why is the "perfect sail for the day" always attached to someone elses board?
moan, moan, groan..........etc

Cool idea Al...
There are just so mnay posts and diary entries to choose from that I don't know where to start, although one diary entry that did stick
in my mind was the one by AndyW from 30th April when he went diving in a fishtank!!
Heres the link
http://forces-of-nature.co.uk/dbdriven/diary/diary.php?action=viewentrydetails&diaryid=304&diaryuser=AndyW
There was also one about bikini-clad gybe marker bouys by Al somewhere, but you've got far too many entries for me to find the correct
one!!
Now I guess I'll have to look through ALL the posts to find my favourite froum post of the year.... Won't get much work done today.
Joner
Here you go Joner is this the one you mean:
http://forces-of-nature.co.uk/dbdriven/diary/diary.php?action=viewentrydetails&diaryid=696&diaryuser=justal
It took me a while to find it as well.... Maybe I'll have to add a 'keyword' search function to the search page in the diaries.
Al.
Al,
I think maybe Nick was refering to my walk of shame last time out...
I think Justal gets nominated for longest swim whilst surviving to make diary entry!
Also nominated for most painful and costliest loss (rig)!
You're spot on Andy .... yours was the W.O.S I was referring to.
Rabbit could get another for least time on the water on a perfect day.
Cheers
Nick
There will have to be one for the most posts on the forever lasting word association game - or who is bored at work and spend his day posting on it

helloooooo.....
Been busy digging in sand again! Starting to think that if there is sand to sink a car then i'll find it.
Am I the only person in this category? Kind of looks that way, i guess i'll walk it and better start writng my acceptance speech
now. I hope the award ceramony is not going to held on the beach.
Good to see your all still getting out, starting to find my 3/2 wet suit is nearly out of season.
My nomination is for hero's.. namely everyone that helped me get the car back.

Definitely Rabbit for the car episode!
Ajdesq for the most time bunking off work to go windsurfing !
Keep em coming....
Are there no nominations for the best forum post and best diary entry??
Al.
nomination for Nick
For a 7 seater car & only able to get the driver in with his kit.

not guilty Rabbit ..... I think that was BEFS wasn't it?
As work slows down in the run up to Christmas I guess trawling thru the diary entries for nominations beats hangman... and similar last
day at school type activities. ...which for me was a rather scary sixteen years ago!
Cheers
Nick
OK I own up
I own a 7 seater car which becomes a 1 seater on windsurf trips.
Befs
If anyone finds a brain down at Ynyslas
May be stuck in sand
May have my name on it
Plaese give to Al for next FON meet
Kind of walnut shaped soft grey sqishy matter about the size of a pea.
Not to be mistteaken for Al's lost rig.
