How about planning another FON beach meet ....
Nick - 25-11-2003 at 14:26

... seeing as the last one (4/5 Oct) was such a good laugh. Incidentally, did the mid-nov meet ever happen Al?

It would also give us "sane" FON members something to look forward to thru the winter months - this excludes those fortunate enough to be jetting off to warmer climes!

How about early March? Jan+feb sound far too cold to me! Mind you I'm sure the water temperature in March will still blow a few cobwebs away.

BEFS can impress us all with his silky smooth gybes.

Cheers

Nick

ps wasn't the rugby bloody brilliant!

pps Al - the who's chatting display on the FON home page doesn't seem to work.

ppps not sure it really matters!

pppps will the word association thread ever die? I'm boycotting it!

badexcuseforasailor - 25-11-2003 at 14:39

Its along way off but i'd be up for an easter trip to borth again if the tides are ok.

As for the gybes they seem to be getting worst at the moment

Nick - 25-11-2003 at 15:13

So what do you think of Dahab BEFS, is there much to do of an evening? Guess they don't have a Friendship Inn equivalent.

I'm really not jealous at all! Maybe next year.

Good luck with the gybes

Cheers

Nick

I'm boycotting the word association thing too...getting a bit boring!

As far as a FON meet goes, where does everyone fancy? We always feel a bit guilty when we don't have to travel and eveyone comes to Borth (handy though....and where else could you possibly want to go!).

If someone can come up with a location and dates that's all we need. Obviously it needs to be flexible incase the weather decides it doesn't want to play.

Any ideas anyone??? How about Pembrokshire or North Wales (Dinas Dinlle was good and close enough for
our new range of Northern Sailors!)

Nick - 25-11-2003 at 15:25

liar!

Nick - 25-11-2003 at 15:48

That was some boycott Justanna...must be a record!

Borth's closest for me but I'm happy to go elsewhere. I guess the great thing about Borth is that it can cater for all windsurfing abilities (estuary or seafront). The surfing option is a bonus too.

Cheers

Nick

justanna - 25-11-2003 at 15:50

I decided to boycott it by finding totally unrelated words! I don't think I've posted in that post for several weeks otherwise!

justanna - 25-11-2003 at 15:51

Borth is handy as it has conditions for almost everyone and I have somewhere warm and comfy to sleep which is always a bonus. Has anyone else got any ideas?

justal - 25-11-2003 at 16:54

Theres nothing like planning ahead is there Nick!!

How about we do another one in Borth in March, just to get everyone together again and whilst we're together we can plan trips to other likely places.

We can decide which weekend in March once I've found a copy of the new tide tables for 2004.

I wonder how many people we can get together for it this time... Who knows, starting this thread 4 months before the actual meeting may mean that we get even more than last time... It also gives us plenty of time to pray for wind!!

Hmm... I'll have to have a look into that then.

Nick,

Don't tell me you're planning on staying off the water until March.

I think I'd have serious withdrawal symptoms by then!

Nick - 25-11-2003 at 17:33

Err ..... probably Andy ;-(

Definitely won't be sailing this side of the new year anyway ... all weekends fully booked.

Earliest I've sailed is mid-feb @Croft Farm gravel pit near Tewkesbury, and that was only because I was buying a new board. Boll*ck freezing cold as I remember it .... not a very pleasant experience, it must have scared me for life.

Just how cold is the water in Jan/Feb Al? The warmest suit I've got it a 5/3 steamer, would that be enough. If it is I might see if I can get over to Borth in Jan/Feb for my first outing.

Cheers

Nick

justal - 25-11-2003 at 18:10

a 5/3 steamer will be OK... you'll need boots as well of course, and a hood/helmet would help if its a particularly cold day. I've been out with a 5/3mm steamer before now when theres been ice on the beach, the air temp was about minus 4 and with the wind chill it was minus 16!!

It was a little chilly on the hands though (I don't wear gloves), and then I locked myself out of my van so had to stand on the beach for half an hour waiting for Anna to turn up with a spare set of keys!

Why not get a xmas f.o.n. meet going on. Im sure loads of people would have time off, and its another good excuse for a piss up, might even get a chance for snow kiting!!

As far as a March meet goes, how about "shell Island", Harlech. Nice cheap camp site, loads of room. An Estuary, a beach, good fishing, etc, and a PUB,Mmmmmm. Theres always the nudist beach as well, for haselhoff naked running impresions,(have to get the ladys booked in for that one,ai).

justal - 26-11-2003 at 07:19

Shell Island would be fine by me, but I think most people would prefer to have more substantial accomodation than a tent in March. Theres not really much of an estuary either, not one big enough for winsurfing in anyway... unless of course you head south to Barmouth and the Mawddach. Both of which are pretty ood in their own right.

I'm easy though... And my Hasselhoff running impresssions are second to none!!!

justanna - 27-11-2003 at 10:07

Looks like my reverse psychology confused everyone and has killed the word association game.....there you go Nick :p No posts for a couple of days in the forums most popular and most pointless thread!

Lets start another!

It seems to be working OK to me... You'll never see yourself listed as in the chat room though if thats what you were expecting to see.... You have to be in the chatroom with that window active in order for your name to show up in the 'who's chatting box'... If you are looking at the home page then you aren't in the chat room... You can't be in two places at once!!!

Silly I know, but its the best I could do.

Al.

Nick - 16-1-2004 at 20:19

Hi Al, as per our discussion in the chatroom a week or so ago, the last weekend in March (27/28) looks good for a FON meet to me. The right tides, just after the clocks go forward and far enough ahead to plan around. I'm up for it, and have already secured a travel permit **

Cheers

Nick
** available from all good partners!

justal - 16-1-2004 at 22:42

Cool... I'll start a new thread about it tomorrow... so that people can start planning for it, praying for wind and getting travel permits etc!!!
