Anyone seen the forecasts for the weekend yet??
Its beginning to look promising for Sunday. WindGuru are forecasting around 20 knots for a while... It looks pretty short lived though
and probably S-SE which isn't great here.... but who knows!??
Theres also a hurricane (Fabien) out over Newfoundlad are by the weekend, which may produce some swell as it tracks across the Atlantic
towards us next week, and may still have enough 'oomph' in it to produce the first of the Autumn winds when it eventually reaches our
shores.
Autum may be on its way at last!!!

I noticed here that the leaves on some trees are starting to turn and drop. Lets hope we have some proper wind to get the leaves off the trees
Well, the forecasts are looking better this evening. They have Force 4, possibly 5 NW backing Westerly for Saturday, continuing to back
Southerly for Sunday, Force 4, picking up to 5, maybe 6 and then veering back to W-NW for Monday, but still Force 4-5....
Keep those fingers crossed.
Al.
Hey Al,
What do you think the conditions will be like at Borth with F5 from the South on Sunday?
I'm not sure whether to try Borth or stay inland.
....and best of all - ive taken the next 2 weeks off on leave and live 4 miles from the Sea....Bonza!
Sunday is still looking OK Andy... BBC have just had a Force 7-8 S-SW forecast, but I think they are getting a little over excited/
Most other sites are forecasting SE-S Force 5-6.
SE isn't great here, but if its not looking good then we'l either sail across to Graveyards and sail there which should be good, or
maybe even drive around to Tywyn.
I've just had an e-mail from Stevebus and he's coming for the weekend as is Ian, so there should be a few peope to sail with...
Come to the coast, its got to be better than Bala in a SE!!
Ste... Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are looking good too (varying from SW-NW Force 5-6 ish, with some waves forecast for
midweek). Where will you be sailing??... I should be out everyday here in Borth.
Al.
All of a sudden its not looking quite so good.... Why do the forecasts always do this. First they get all excited and tell us its gonna
blow a hoolie and then gradually as the day approaches, the forecast wind strengths start to decline.
Oh well, there still a chance of a sail over the next few days which is more than we've had lately! Harry seems to be having a good
time in Brazil according to his diaries. He's beginning to get a little smug though, so hopefully we'll get some entries in from the UK
soon just to bring him down a peg or two!!
Al.
The forcasts are getting a bit confused so I might save the petrol money for a more definate forecast.
I definately won't be going to Bala Al, not in a SE but if I see some wind in Wolves I might head out to Carsington in the derbyshire
hills for an afternoon sail.
Its a problem being so far from the coast when you can't wait and see what the conditions are like before heading out. By the time I'd
get there the wind would be long gone anyway...
Well, theres nothing here at the moment, and the forecasts are only saying Southerly Force 3-4 now!!!
So much for the SW Force 7-8 that BBC were saying on Friday!! I knew that wasn't going to happen, but its quite a difference.
As far as your travels to the coast, I think you're going to have to start thinking differently about them. Instead of coming just to
go windsurfing, then just go to the coast for a trip, and if theres wind then its a bonus as you can get out on the water. You have to
stop getting frustrated because there no wind and just enjoy yourself while your there. You can almost always find something to do on
the beach, even if its just going for a walk, and it has to be better than staying at home.
Of course it costs petrol money to get here, but the best days always end up being when there isn't any wind forecast and then you get
here to find perfect conditions. If you don't go to the coast because of the forecasts then you hardly ever end up catching those
perfect days.

Al
I live about 5 miles inland from Tenby
Saturday - too northerly and F3-4
Today was Southerly (or maybe SSW) and Caldey seemed to play havoc causing it to be really up/down - mainly down. Got a few nice
jumps in this morning at 11am - was rubbish by 12pm!
NW tmrw - so will head to north pembs - maybe Dale - Broadhaven or Newgale?
Strong SW winds are looking on the cards for Wed tho?
PS
Never been to Borth. Will try and get up there. Might even try and squeeze in a trip on the next 2 weeks. I'll let you know how it
looks....
ste
No force 7 where i was either one day will get it right about a force 3 with a 5 ish for about 5mins. Saturday afternoon was good though
Well I saw:-
Friday - Good strong wind (about F4-5) with mainly blue sky and cloud.
Saturday - what looked like perfect (for me) conditions with a good strong breeze and lots of blue sky and sunshine. A classic autumn
day.
Sunday - A bit more fickle, but still enough wind for a sail, but less blue sky and thunder at one point.
Where was I during all this.....in the hospital checking out my new arrival! Lets hope he joins me for a sail as soon as possible
Hope you lot had a blast!
Terrible wasn't it. Force 4 all day here yesterday (just) and it got to a solid Force 5 for about 5 minutes when a squall came
through.
I did manage to get out on the water kite-surfing during the squall though. It soon dropped back off after that.
There were 3-4 people out windsurfing and about 5 out kite-surfing from the Golf Course Car Park here.
Oh, and the forecast for next Saturday is SSW Force 5 at the moment... No doubt there will be nothing at all by the time it gets here.
Al.
The wind is sure to arrive at the weekend and all next week as I'm off to leominster for a week on a fishing holiday and fishing in
strong wind isn't much fun.
Have fun in the wind cos it won't be much fun fishing in it
AndyW
You said you sometimes sail at Carsington in the derbyshire hills.
Can you kite surf there ?
Plus how long does it take to get ther from Wolverhampton ?
Al
Hey, another member from Wolves...
It takes about 1.5 hours to get there. I go through Cannock, Rugeley, Uttoxeter, A50, Ashbourne.
Its a Severn Trent run lake with sailing club and watersports centre.
I've never seen anyone kiting so I guess its not allowed. Also you need insurance to get on the water.
The launch spots not the best either as you have to negotiate round an island to get out to the main expanse of water.
Its good for a day out but I'd give it a miss for kiting.
So what are people's plans for this weekend ??
Work is doing my head in at the moment !!
Nothing much forecast here...if it gets to Force 4, then I'll go kite-surfing, other than that, yesterday was working, today will be
painting the soffits on out house!
