Phew, just got back from an amazing week competing in the European Age-Group Triathlon Championships. Not exactly a 'Forces-of-Nature'
sport but it is all human powered so sort of counts.
Couldn't resist telling you how it went all the same as the race went perfectly to plan. I came out of the sea swim first in a time of
11:54 (no wetsuits here as this was the Med and the sea temperature was a lovely 26¬?C). I could have gone a little faster but would
only have dragged the other competitors with me so played a tactical game until the last 100m or so and finished the swim with a 17
second lead.
The bike went well and I finished that with a 48 second lead over Russian competitor Andriyan Khristoforov.
My run was perfect despite the ever rising temperatures under a blazing Turkish sun. Each mile split was 5 seconds faster than the
previous mile so I finished in the Gold Medal position with a lead of 1:20 over the Russian and 2:34 over third place Brit Andrew
Pownall.
Not bad eh, Borth has its very own European Triathlon Champion!!!
I even got away with wearing a dodgy pair of shorts on the podium!
bloody hell...those are loud shorts.
