What to do this weekend
justal - 30-5-2003 at 16:30

Well, it looks as though we are in for another windless weekend with no surf, lots of tourists, some sunshine and nothing to do!!!

Has anyone got any innovative ways of keeping them self amused this weekend??

I was sitting on the on the grass at christchurch harbour for most of saturday. The sea breeze kicked in about 3pm as the water kicked out

Not much has happened here either. the wind has been up and down, but never up enough.. Although ben and Chris were out kite-surfing earlier whist I was watching the Grand Prix.

I've wandered around the dunes quite a bit 'lizard watching', and came across a pretty big adder. The only other excitement has been three police cars in Borth, all of which then whizzed up to this end of the beach followed by two RAF helicopters, two pole helicopters, and ambulance and a fire-brigade land-rover. We don't know what it was all about, but they were all looking for something for quite a while over by the Leri boatyard and one of the police heilcopters is still buzzing around now... We don't get excitement like that too often around here!!

Oh yeah, the dolphins were in the bay this weekend as well.

Hi folkes,

don't complain there was lots of wind the past weeks. Instead just enjoy the nice weather of which there seems not to be as much around.
Anyway I kept myself busy with what Al pesumably does when he does not windsurf: I cut the hedges in my garden. Actually I managed to get a bit of a sun burn in doing so. Apart from that it was just being lazy, enjoying the sun and having bbq's.

I hope we will have wind next weekend as I will be around again then.

Joe

Well ,

The missuss attended a Simon Bornhoft weekend clinic at Dale.

And that , gentle reader , explains the lack of wind. (Not strictly true ,F4 ish Sunday morning fora while)

W've discovered what it was all about... An old Hunter jet plane on its way from an airshow in Ireland to Devon went out of control over the estuary. Apparently it just went stright up and then striaght back down again. the pilot ejected and landed in the estuary. He spent 30 minutes in the water, then was air-lifted to Aberystwyth Hospital before being taken to Swansea Hospital. I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with him, they've only mentioned mold hypothermia so far. The Jet itself (apparently one of the first military jets) came down nose first not far from the railway line and is pretty much mainly underground now, with just its tail sticking out from the ground and a few bits of debris here and there.

Looks like the pilot had a lucky escape.
