Now I've got my bus sorted and no parents here or work I should be able to make it down for the w-end Any idea what the forecast looks like?
Hi Ian...
The forecast is a little uncertain at the moment. However, they are saying that FrIday evening could see some NE winds (and rain) which
could be good in the estuary (It should be sailable from about 6.30pm onwards).
At the moment Saturday isn't looking good with light SW winds. However, Sunday may be a bit better with a decent Southerly wind
forecast..
This of course will all change so is completely useless. We'll have a reassessment in a couple of days.
There is a nice little low out there, but what exactly it will do by the weekend is anyones guess.
I'll be here this weekend though and will of course be on the water if the conditions (and my foot) allows.
Al.
Thats good then not sure if im down Fri or Sat at the mo but lets hope for some winds
OK.... What vehicle should I look out for??..
And congratulations on making it to 'Beach Bum'... Its gotta be better than being a grommet!
Al.
My Pearls of weather wisdom for today....
Theres a series of little lows tracking our way between now and the BH weekend. So, we'll get periods of wet and windy weather
interspersed with some less wet and windy weather... Now theres sticking my neck out for you!!
It looks as though the first of these will hit Friday afternoon and produce some NW wind in the evening (which could be fairly strong
and give my favourite conditions at Borth...we'll see). The winds might not get here until its dark though. By Saturday morning the
winds will probably ease off, only to pick up again (S-SW in the evening). The winds will once again peak overnight and gradually drop
off on Sunday. Monday should see them return though.
I reckon you'd be unlucky not to get out over the weekend, but if the winds all arrive overnight then it could be a very frustrating
weekend for the windsurfers.
There should be some surf though which might get OK in the less windy periods.
Al.
Looks OK
What will the tides be like, I've left my tide table at home, and I want to talk to some mates about sailing on the estuary this
weekend.
Friday HT 9.30am (4.7m)
Sat HT 10.05am (4.6m)
Sun HT 10.35am (4.5m)
Mon HT 11.05am (4.4m)
You should be able to sail both mornings and evenings!!
Al.

Do you know if Steve(new)bus is coming to Borth this weekend?
I'm not sure who else will be around. I'll give Radical Rob a ring as he is never online. (Its about time we saw the other Rob up here
again as well... Have you heard from him lately?)
Hopefully Steve will be down and I'm not sure about Dazzamuffin as his ankle was causing problems again last weekend. Richard might be
around as well. Dave and Sarah will be here, with some friends by the sounds of it too.
Anyone else????
Al.
Not sure havent heard from them in a while but i suppose they will generally they're around on the hols? I havent heard from Rob as he is (I think) on another helicopter course down in Middle Wallop but he doest or did have a woman up here in Shrewsbury. I'll sent him a text and see what the reply is
Cool...Wonder if Rob will be able to make it to borth for a sail this weekend. it would be good to see some of the 'old faces'
When was the last time you sailed?? Bet you can't wait to get out on the waves of Borth!!
Al.
The last god sail was last year prob Aug/Sep time A LONG LONG time ago
That was a LONG LONG time ago... where was that?? Don't tell me it ws the last time you were at Borth!
Just been checking the weather. The wind was good here today, but dropped off this evening and its clouding over now as well.... They
are forecasting heavy rain overnight.
Tomorrow evening looks good though with 20 knot NW's forecast (my favourite).
They then have it dropping off overnight on Friday and backing SW before picking up gradually throughout the day on Sat reaching about
20 knots SSW in the evening. Sunday looks as though it will see the winds drop of from a not very exciting 15 knots S to next to
nothing. Monday doesn't look to good either.
Keep your fingers crossed, we might get enough to get out on Saturday.
It looks as though there could be some surf though, so all is not lost!!
Al.
Just thought I'd let you know that its 7.30am on Friday and its blowing its tits off here!!!
Unfortunately my weekend won't start until about 3pm this afternoon, so lets hope the wind lasts until then.
I had an e-mail from Gramp last night saying he would be in Borth for the weekend as well, so there should be a few people around.
Al.
Not so bad in Poole either;
Metoffice report for 5am this am;
Selsey Bill to Lyme Regis.
24 hour forecast:
Wind: south 4 or 5 becoming 7 to Severe Gale 9 for a time, veering west, backing southwest overnight.
Weather: occasional rain becoming fair evening and night.
Visibility: good, or moderate in rain.
Sea State: moderate building rough, perhaps very rough for a while.
...Severey Gale 9! ...anyone got any scissors so I can reduce my 4.2 a bit?
